I'm curious, because both of you finished the Ultimate Universe on my Ultimate year.

So you have read Cataclysm within the last handful of years.

don't think it matters other than the maker has, uh, has had a, I, what do you call it? A semi turn where he's in like decent standing enough to for Nick Fury's given him jobs.

Like it seems like at this stage, ultimate Reed Richards is like, like he sort of helps them prevent cataclysm.

And now he's helping Nick Fury as opposed to, the actual debut of the maker where he's trying to kill everyone right so like that i think that's the really the most essential thing you need to know um i would recommend and do recommend you know for folks we didn't do it in this but like prior to that issue of avengers I do recommend people read Hickman's Ultimates for the full Who's the Maker experience because it's great comics.

It's piece of rubbish on those, I think, right? Really cool comics.

Um, Hawkeye, not Black Widow, was the Avenger captured and interrogated, which Penn described as a nod to The Ultimates.

Um, the Hulk went on a rampage in New York.

Loki did not enter the story until much, much later, and there was a scene in which the team took turns trying to lift Thor's hammer, and that one turned up-

Nick Fury was drawn as Samuel L. Jackson in 2002 without anyone asking Samuel L. Jackson or his people for permission.

Mark Miller and Brian Hitch modeled the cast of The Ultimates on actors to make the book feel cinematic, and Fury was redesigned as Jackson.

This was established as Earth 1610, which also spawned a lot of other Ultimate, because Ultimate being such a big... word that was bandied about in the nineties and the two thousands, everything's ultimate or it was ultra or it was extreme.

Um, but that gave us the ultimate X-Men ultimate fantastic four and simply the ultimates as opposed to the Avengers, which were all, all titles.

I followed the ultimate X-Men.

Not great.

Um, The Ultimates, which I liked very much, was turned into some animated films as well.

The Ultimate Fantastic Four, I did not really end up following that much.

But we read the first seven issues, considered the first arc, called Power and Responsibility.

I need to get through all that because I loved the episodes we covered.

I have also been reading The Ultimates 1 and 2.

Inspired by your absolutely superb Patreon episode on the subject, the entire 26 issues were excellent.

Then I decided to read The Ultimates 3.

Oh no! It might just be me, but I found it to be utter rubbish.

It was a major disappointment.
