Ula-Tek

You have to do a lot of things right, and you can't really mess them up.

And then there's Ula'tek, an end boss.

Uh, she is fucking hard, and it might take us, like, 100 or 200 pulls to get it done on heroic.

But-

The post-raid stuff, right? No, not the post-raid stuff, but the pre-raid stuff, the pre-patch stuff, where...

Hang on, I'm trying to get my words, where we first find out about Ulatek, that the trolls summoned Ulatek to fight off these Akir, Akiri monsters.

And we're getting a new world boss in patch 12.1.5, which is also an Akir of some kind.

I may have the names for these things messed up, but there is something going on in this space.

As they were getting low on this fight, guilds were using a strategy, Liquid and Echo, were using a strategy that's like, okay, instead...

Dodging these things is insane.

Why are we going to dodge these things? And instead, they would jump in the poison pool that surrounded Ulatek because that was less damage to heal through.

You could heal through that damage and make your healers suffer.

It's really interesting.

He fought against Tyr, apparently fought against Ulatek.

Kithix is one of those.

And the legend was that the trolls defeated him.

It was story-related.

Long story short, defeating Ulatek broke this guy out, he's trying to break out, and therefore we have to take him.

Yeah, I was doing keys the other day with this rep out, and then he went on like a five-minute monologue about the importance of Kithix and why this shouldn't be a loot pinata raid and why he should be a penultimate boss.

But I wasn't really listening.

So there's very, very few occasions where you wouldn't want to be taking the reroll.

Like, as in... there's a myth trinket that drops for you, and there's nothing else you want on that particular loot table, and you're just, like, killing Ulatek is just, in heroic, it's probably not going to happen to you, or normal, you know, if you don't go on to heroic after that, right? So, it's just the way the maths works out, and it's horrible, and it's bad, and I haven't taken anything from my vault.

Now, to be fair...

I haven't got any tear in my vault either, so the choice is pretty easy.

So I'm not anywhere – like obviously I need higher upgrade tracks and everything too, but now I'm wearing stuff that like – my stats are not where I want them to be, which is unfortunate.

Now, the good thing was when we killed Ulatek – I was able to make sure that the guy who traded me the token on Tuesday got an Omni token from Ulitech so he could go get whatever he wanted from the vendor.

Nice.

I repaid him in some way.

You just get back up and get into it.

And it is also funny when that orb stack gets way too high and you toss it to somebody and they blow up.

The Weekly World Boss is still the Curse of Ulatek's Tidebound Grotto lair with Nemrissa Wavecaller in there.

So you're still queuing into this.

I think the bonus roll is a huge thing.

I think in a perfect world where... you just want to see progression and kill bosses and all bosses are created equal, that going to Mythic Nixali or whatever might make sense, but realistically, killing Heroic Ulatek is so big for your guild that I think that is honestly the vibes-based play.

Like, going in and killing anything else and not making progress towards Ulatek when so many bis items from so many different players is on that boss, I think is negative vibes, and I think So it's unfortunate because that's going to be a more arduous journey and it's going to be more difficult for your guild.

But yeah, you just got to go for Heroic Ruletech.

Yeah, that's in general, not just this specific scenario.

It's like just get res and you're stunned.

Oh, one thing I want to ask you guys about.

Herak Ulatek.

All right, so the ability name, I was wrong.

It's Ulatek who has the ability, not Twin Fangs.

Ulatek has the ability.

So I was wrong there.

But yeah, it's a... yeah it's a it's a like a soak circle that pops up and then it like disappears and you i think i as a tank i have to kind of still go to it and stand there uh while ulitech like does the chomping whatever um thing that ulitech does i had just looked it up uh a second ago and then oh mother's wrath is what it's called

The f- I do think the fights are really cool, and they are a lot of fun.

I've done, like I said, I did Ula'tek on story mode because I needed to get my champ ring, and I did actually think it was a really cool fight.

Obviously, I've, I haven't seen it with any intensity.

I've only seen it in story mode.

Yeah.

And the reason I say that is because very specifically, and I'm not gonna give spoilers, uh, because I know people are still working their way through the current content, the birth of Ula'tek is very fascinating as far as ...

I mean, it makes sense to us because of what we know of what are considered loa and the fact that loa can be born from just about anything.

But it's also a perfect parallel that at this moment as we're dealing with a loa that has returned from a long imprisonment and is gaining power, that another loa could potentially come back when they're needed most, if that makes sense.
