Mark FosterHOST
59:20
... we spoke about this before, so I'd say, like, 20 years ago, um, what did you think in regards to UK rappers then opposed to Americans? Like, for me personally, I didn't have any interest in UK rap whatsoever, and there wasn't much around.
Mark FosterHOST
59:34
I remember, like, Gunshot was, like, s- some rap group I really liked.
Mark FosterHOST
59:38
Um, but I always thought it's an American thing.
Mark FosterHOST
59:40
But now my taste has completely changed, where I think it, it...
Mark FosterHOST
59:43
I th- we probably sound better.
Mark FosterHOST
59:45
I probably l- I prefer to listen to a UK rapper than I do American, but where did you stand 20 years ago on, on that?
MistaJamGUEST
59:50
Uh, 20 years ago I loved UK rap.
Charlie TaylorHOST
12:09
There's probably a couple of others I'm not thinking of at the moment, but yeah, man, he's checking off the list of, you know, just... dream dream collaborate collab albums uh for for a hip-hop artist such as himself um so yeah shout out to him we continue on with
Charlie TaylorHOST
12:27
our uk black history month uh celebrations our retrospectives on uh uk hip-hop artists uh from yesteryear um and uh yeah we get into outlaw posse which is a duo from the early 90s and only the early 90s as i well as one of us will uh hopefully mention nearer to the end but yeah they are still going not to ruin the ending but they are still going over on their band camp so if you want to go support them feel free to do so although you know they're trafficking in AI artwork unfortunately but you know nobody's perfect um but yeah uh we have their most of their works from the 90s all of their works from the 90s especially the albums that we're going to get into and uh yeah the story behind everything so with that said Ben what have you got for us
Ben CarterHOST
13:18
Yeah, there's not a lot of information out there about Outlaw Posse.
Ben CarterHOST
13:22
They have a well-sourced Wikipedia page, but most of the interviews I could find were from KG of Naughty by Nature, not KG of Outlaw Posse.
Charlie TaylorHOST
16:16
I feel like for one of them they did it and the other one they didn't.
Charlie TaylorHOST
16:21
and it was just a marked improvement on just that.
Charlie TaylorHOST
16:25
But yeah, I guess the issue is overall, and I'll get to the album in a second, but the issue is for all of these artists that cut their teeth during the late 80s and early 90s, the fertile years of UK hip-hop, shall we say, um is that you they miss it they as good as they could be the best rappers ever right they could have you know the tightest flows they can have like you know just the sickest bars whatever whatever whatever um but i just always feel like the usp of You know, having having the hip hop, you know, production wise, but also having that USP of actually just sounding like where you're from.
Charlie TaylorHOST
17:21
Obviously, the likes of London Posse were the first, you know, reportedly the first to do it.
Little TormentGUEST
33:32
say.
Little TormentGUEST

Harry ForshawHOST

Got a special dedication to John Coltrane and Miles Davis, who both had their centenary year celebrations this year.
Harry ForshawHOST
13:53
Also got some UK hip hop, which I think really kind of goes with this time of the year perfectly, for me at least.
Harry ForshawHOST
14:00
And got some reggae and dub as well that I picked up from Peckham's Record Shop in Shepherd's Bush very recently to try to play as well.
Harry ForshawHOST
14:09
So yeah, make sure you keep it locked.

Hopefully he figures it out.
LouisGUEST
52:18
Apart from like everyone waiting for your album, is anyone like [snorts] interested in hearing, uh, like music from any UK rappers?
Tego SigelHOST
52:29

But life ain't always been fine like baby blue Cause when you do UK rap you're number two Cause the USA ain't giving us space to break true So I'm on the grind trying to pioneer a break true Gonna keep the punters happy to tango it takes two And it seems like I'm the rapper the people take two I've never had a lot with what I've got I've made do And I'm blowing up up in this beat like move, move, move Little Derek's doing okay, yeah Little Derek's doing fine, fine Little Derek's doing cool Legal Derek's doing cool, cool You know how we do Step out the ride, I'm feeling nice and quite fly I'm trying to reach the top, I see the top, it's quiet Steady on my, I'm trying to get my face up in the sauce So I keep my faith up in the force, up in the bright white Getting calls from these record label bosses like And I've been inside their offices and listened to their promises But no one's made me offers yet that I could not do And I've been making profits off this, my mixtapes Life ain't always been pretty like On the north side of the city where it's gritty like We did what we had to done to get Hoping not to get caught up in no silly drive Little Derek wrote lyrics while the others got And he ended up in HMV instead of HMP Cause street life could only end one way Your friend crying on the scene like Little Derek's doing okay, yeah.
SwaySOUNDBITE_SPEAKER

SemtexGUEST
6:40

SemtexGUEST
6:59
