Ugly Things

Uh, it's been pretty ugly lately, and, um, Lizzy McAlpine, who is the person I'm bringing in today, she just dropped her album, Angel, last month, and this is, uh, one of the singles.

It's called Ugly Things.

It really gets into it, kind of, just generally ugly things all around us.

Like, the third thing's called I'm Sorry.

I was, like, gonna call it that 'cause it's kind of a callback to, um, the I'm Sorrys in Ugly Things.

Um, they're about the same person.

And then eventually I wrote the third verse, and the, the title Two 11s came.

they, we, yeah, I use it on everything.

And the, the sorry verb is something that we conceived on Ugly Things, um, for that moment in the song where it's like, uh, I stacked a bunch of harmonies on the, "I'm sorry, I'm sorry," and we...

I was like, "Well, I really want it to feel like it's extending forever." So we made this thing called sorry verb, and then we used it on, like, so many other-

It puts me in that space.

I really enjoyed songs like Over Country, Ugly Things, The Crowd because of this picturesque feeling that I got while listening to them.

They're also just really beautiful and I think that's because of her vocals.

She is a real talent and I would love to see her in the next year.
