It's such a strange and specific thing to try and recreate with AI.

As a Beatles fan, it's insanely impressive, but how the hell did this guy make this? On Suno or Udio, you're not allowed to copy a particular artist, especially the Beatles.

And even if you could, how would you prompt all that banter and make it sound so real? So when I first heard it, I was baffled.

There must be some sort of dark web AI music model that has all the guardrails taken off.

He just said recorded, not generated.

This is the moment it clicked for me.

He wasn't using Suno or Udio or some black market alternative.

There was no prompt.

You know, let's see what it sounds like in a angsty teen rock style.

Plugging that into Suno or Udio and all of a sudden you've got, you know, basically an idea there.

Right.

But the thing is, you can't take that idea, take that the music piece of that and call it yours.

I'm all for utilizing the two.

I didn't use a Suno-created, Udio-created piece of art yet.

Unless, of course, my producers that submit me beats are using it, I wouldn't know, you know?

Well, that's a good point.

That's from Sonos co-founder Mikey Shulman, and it just about summarizes what these AI companies are trying to achieve.

In fact, the premise of Suno and Udio is basically the same.

Now anybody can create music, even though they have no prior musical knowledge.

Just type a text prompt and away you go.

Users can provide subjects, instruments, feelings, and or their custom lyrics.

And in just a minute, a track is ready to play.

30 seconds for Udio and 2 minutes for Suno.

Both platforms can extend tracks and provide different variations.

And I've given them audio tracks.

You know, I used to make a lot of my own music using Suno and Udio and things like that.

So I've given them that.

And it will go and it will go and use various different tools to find out where people are singing and not singing.

So AI music generators are not anything incredibly new, and it's also, there's a weird line to draw because we have two different things.

We have something like Suno or Udio where you give it prompt, and it just one-shots an entire song with the vocalist and all that.

But then we have a lot of tools that have existed for a long time inside of Premiere where you're like adding AI effects on top of your music, or you're using, quote-unquote, "AI" to generate like a piano or to, or, or even just like, uh, the computer's generating a piano or like, anyway, so it's, it's hard to draw the line on what's fully AI-generated versus not.

I tend to think just one-shotted songs, write a song about being in the mountains with a rustic sound to it and then Suno spits out a song, I don't tend to find those to be super high quality.
