Christiana PolitesGUEST
66:14
And he came and he stayed I think just one night and said, let's go to the Saraswati temple in Ubud.
Christiana PolitesGUEST
66:27
And so we went to visit the Saraswati temple, beautiful little Hindu temple.
Christiana PolitesGUEST
66:35
Nobody was there.
David MoloneyGUEST
38:16
Have an amazing holiday.
David MoloneyGUEST
38:18
And so that's a bucket list destination for some people to go and spend a week in Ubud.
David MoloneyGUEST
38:22
So I think if you're... smart about how you play this particular game of life you can for very little cost in this case you have to put 450 up front into a credit card um you're going to get a bucket list destination ticked off once a year or once every two years so it's not a bad outcome
Glen JamesHOST
38:40
there's generally no free lunch But someone might say, well, Glenn, I've got a credit card and it's got a $0 annual fee.
Justin WatsonGUEST
2:03
So, no, look, I think, I mean, Bali's always been a really appealing destination for New Zealanders up until now.
Justin WatsonGUEST
2:10
If you've lived in Christchurch, you've had to either go across Auckland or east coast of Australia to get there, having a direct flight, or just open that up and So I'm sure the people from the South Island will be staying in Ubud rather than some of the other places.
Justin WatsonGUEST
2:28
Oh, yeah, no,
Heather du Plessis-AllanHOST
2:28
no, no. I'm not going to those hideous party places.
Charlie WestGUEST
56:55
And that tiny little, almost like a peninsula, under Den Passer is where all the tourists go.
Charlie WestGUEST
57:02
North of Den Passer, you've got, like, Ubud, and you've got, like, maybe a little surf town on the west and the east.
Charlie WestGUEST
57:10
And, like, apart from that, there's not really many tourists.
Charlie WestGUEST
57:15
Like...
Charlie WestGUEST
58:25
Well, that was my
Andy ArgoHOST
58:26
issue with Bali is I felt a lot of it is the city.
Andy ArgoHOST
58:29
I feel like Denpasar and the suburbs like Uluwatu and Ubud, I feel like it kind of blurs into one as kind of great Denpasar and I feel like that kind of is like a third or a quarter-ish of the island.
Andy ArgoHOST
58:39
I feel like it is a lot of...
Matthew RobertsonGUEST
8:13
He was the guy that took me up there.
Matthew RobertsonGUEST
8:15
And I said, look, could you just show me around Ubud, which is this really spiritual area in Indonesia, in Bali.
Matthew RobertsonGUEST
8:23
And he said, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Matthew RobertsonGUEST
8:25
So we met and I got changed and came out.
KieranHOST
23:22
And I'm like, well, what do you know? So Simone is skeptical at first about the idea of outsourcing, believing that the outsourcing of production would mean using sweatshops, in her own words.
KieranHOST
23:36
And so in 2014, she jets off to Indonesia, to Ubud, I believe.
KieranHOST
23:41
Yes.
KieranHOST
23:41
Because I did some digging, and I'm pretty sure that's where she ended up going.
KieranHOST
26:51
Surely.
KieranHOST
26:52
Yeah.
KieranHOST
26:52
But like Ubud, which is both a township and its surrounding district in Bali, has roughly 75,000 residents with an average yearly tourist population of 3 million.
YaniHOST
27:02
Jesus Christ.
Christine CorcoranHOST
9:46
I didn't know what I would enjoy.
Christine CorcoranHOST
9:48
And so there was a few friends that were here in Ubud as well.
Christine CorcoranHOST
9:51
And so I went to Ubud first.
Christine CorcoranHOST
9:54
Spent a week there because I got to catch up with them.
Christine CorcoranHOST
9:56
We went to the Pyramids of Chi and had some incredible experiences there with some healings.
Christine CorcoranHOST
11:11
And so...
Christine CorcoranHOST
11:12
This was just another lesson in that of like, you know what, I'll figure out what I want to do.
Christine CorcoranHOST
11:16
And I actually decided like I stayed at this beautiful place in Ubud and was absolutely in love with it.

Carrie LorangerHOST

Carrie LorangerHOST

Ubud and beyond, way up Tetabatu and I was way up there.
Carrie LorangerHOST
29:36
Yeah.
Sidney C. SolaceGUEST
29:37
Yeah, it's beautiful.
Stuart WatkinsGUEST
33:56
Similar to how...
Stuart WatkinsGUEST
33:58
Ubud in Bali has been just deeply just busy and westernized.
Stuart WatkinsGUEST
34:02
So, um... there's there's that as well like if someone's hearing what i've just said and then they just stay in rishikesh they could be like um like it's beautiful it's magical it is great but if you're in just this one pocket of rishikesh it's um it's become very very very westernized yeah But once you get up to some other places like into the jungle and places like Kenshi Dome and these other places that most of them have been tailored to the tourist, but you can still find these very magical gems, treasure places that are just incredibly potent.
Stuart WatkinsGUEST
34:59
It's palpable.
