Tyson Flowers

We'll have more on that injury hopefully for you on Wednesday.

moving now into tyson flowers we got to speak with tyson during the press conference portion today got some really good quotes from him and some good insight into how the team is feeling as he is one of the veteran leaders of this team one of the captains of this team and we asked him how does it feel being three and oh this year compared to oh and three just a year ago and he said doesn't really have much to do with last year we're just happy to be three and oh happy to be winning games and He said the cool thing about this team is we're so focused on the now.

They're not focused, oh, we're 3-0.

They're not focused on the bigger goals.

And so they don't want that to happen.

So they're staying incredibly focused each and every week.

on the next opponent so you can say it it's a cliche for sure but I really think this Virginia Tech team believes it because of some of the past experiences of these coaches and these players and then Tyson Flowers added we asked him about the quote Franklin had on Saturday about how he thinks the Virginia Tech roster is just having fun right now and he's like I think winning is fun Tyson Flowers thinks winning is fun.

And I agree with him.

That really stretches your defense horizontally, putting more pressure on your linebackers to play sideline to sideline and make tackles in the open field.

Quentin Reddish, Tyson Flowers at the third level will also be huge factors in that as well.

I found this comment a little bit interesting from James Franklin.

If I'm the head coach at Maryland, I'm telling the offense to get the ball out quickly.

It just makes such a difference.

So let's talk about Tyson Flowers.

The hit in the backfield that he like – he nailed that dude.

And the guy like – he kind of like – both arms went out.

And that's what happened on that play.

Caleb Spencer blitzed in and we would have been shy.

Like if Tyson flowers didn't light them up, Caleb Spencer was going to light them up.

I think tech did a really good job defensively in this game because they felt so confident with, the interior defensive line holding their own it kind of allowed them to be a little bit more aggressive on the outsides i think tech did a really good job of staying in their lanes understanding their assignments yet playing really really fast on those edges because that's where odu wants to beat you they want you to be overly aggressive and not keep contained and not play your lanes and that's when the quarterback pulls it and goes away or when they do a quick pass i thought tech's defense again i know vmi was freaking terrible but they did a really good job playing assignment football, yet aggressive football on defense.

The second lost fumble resulted in a 14-yard fumble return for a touchdown by safety.

Tyson Flowers with 229 left in the first quarter.

Also, Hennekel, in the second quarter, had a fumble on a sack strip, but he did recover that fumble.

But Hennekel, made some big completions.

Like, go get that ball.

And Tyson Flowers was there to scoop it up and take it in.

And I've been hard on that man all last year and all offseason.

We saw him getting burnt in practice.

I always thought his run fits were pretty good.

It was always his coverage that I was kind of like, what the hell are you doing? But we'll see.

But overall, so far, I feel like Tyson Flowers has stepped up more so than he did last year.

Dude, the hit that he put in the backfield before the fumbled return play.

And then finally, how does this Virginia Tech secondary look? We didn't get to see it at all last week because VMI couldn't throw the ball until the waning moments of the game.

So now we get to see Dequez White, Josh Clark, Quentin Reddish, Tyson Flowers, Isaiah Brown-Murray, Kenny Woosley, Cam Chabot, all these guys from the secondary that we've heard about all offseason.

Now we finally get to see them in action.

It's an offense that should present a little bit more of a challenge throwing the football.
