Tyreek King

I mean, who had Faison Brandon's first third-down completion of the season going to Trent Thomas back two months ago? So I think maybe not that he's just somebody that's radically different, but he looked solid and I think that gives Tennessee the option to play more 12 personnel like they kind of have previous two years that I was uncertain how much they would be able to go to that this year just given the personnel they have at the spot

and Mike they might have to play more 12 personnel with the injury to Joe Kim Dotson the backup slot receiver position is really I mean, Braylon Staley may play every snap in a game, but if he needs a blow, I mean, where are you with Tyreek King on the road on a Saturday night? Or if he needs to come out of the game, are you back into two tight end stuff? So Trent Thomas becomes really important, and they've got to figure out where Deshaun Bray is right now.

That's a guy that had all the early preseason buzz, but he didn't have a great first scrimmage, and then he didn't have a target in week one.

I'm curious to see where he factors into this team offensively.

Like, you ask DO in strength and conditioning, you ask his tutors in the Thornton Center, like, everybody around the building has, top to bottom, said, like, "Mike is a completely different person." And I think when you get that, you get an even better football player.

So I think it's really cool for other guys to see that example, for TK Keys to see that example, for Tyreek King to see that example, that if I do it the right way, if I listen to my coaches, if I trust what they're telling me, there is success on the other side.

There's proof of concept, and it's not just with those guys.

I was telling Mike and Bray the same thing when they were freshmen about Cedric Tillman, about Jalen Hyatt, about Dante Thornton.

But...

Next in line is Tyreek King.

And now, unfortunately, because football is football, this is a great opportunity for the true freshman who arrived on campus late this summer but impressed in the little bit of time that he was once he did show up.

He also had a nice camp, and that was something – I don't know that you and I and Ryan ever talked about it on the podcast, but I know we had – conversations on campus and off air just about how deep Tennessee was at the slot and at receiver.

Have not seen a report on him, but we'll monitor with Duarte.

So, hey, it's an opportunity for Tyreek King to step in there and make some plays.

I think he can handle it.

And I feel like Kelsey Pope was coaching him very hard this fall camp to prepare him to get some opportunities this season.

It's next man up.

And the next man up for Tennessee in that slot seems to be the freshman
