T
18:45Tom KakertGUEST
I think they'll be better defensively than they were last year, which is going to be very helpful for them.
T
18:53Tom KakertGUEST
A couple of the guards that are coming in with Tyreek Coleman, Jaden Kuhn, I think are going to really help them defensively.
T

The offense is going to evolve, but the defense is going to be there.
T

So I really do like this team.

To me, maybe he was playing them up a little bit, but I did find that intriguing.

And on top of that, too, based on scrimmages and everything else, I still think Tyreek Coleman's going to be really good, but he's got to cut down the turnover, some of the open portions that we've been able to see of him.
D
45:00David EickholtHOST
And if Cale Combs can shoot the basketball from three at 36% to 37%, that's a total game changer, especially when you have guys like Tate Sage and Cooper Koch on both the wings, right? the other part of it too finally is elliot you talk about who's gonna step up for bennett and how they deal with that gravity mckeever has a chance to be that gravity because of his size i would love for mckeever to improve his back to basket and just put one or two post moves to bed where i thought he had a great i i i can't remember who was guarding him but in that five minute segment that we got He backed him down, had a beautiful – I think he turned to his left and had a great kind of just miniature hook shot over him, nothing but net.

You're like, you're 7'3".

He's got those guard skills.
E
48:27Eliot CloughHOST
He's not a guy that's going to put the ball on the floor, but got some of those guard skills, the vision, that type of thing.
E
48:35Eliot CloughHOST
That is something that's really... really interesting to me is how they're going to operate in the front court on top of the fact that they're going to have to spread out the Bennett Sturtz duties so to speak of Cale Combs Tyreek Coleman being a primary ball handler primary and secondary ball handlers and then you're scoring probably going to be spread out more but you're going to look to Tate Sage and Cooper Koch as your your guys that the like Cooper Koch will be the straw that stirs the drink this year He is – Cooper and Tate were, I mentioned, can be an awesome against Michigan.
E
49:11Eliot CloughHOST
Tate and Cooper were freaking awesome in March Madness.
47 minutes of Iowa men's basketball: How good can this team be?
C
17:05Chad LeistikowHOST
I mean, they could have, uh, you know, 6'7", 6'8", 6'8" at the two, three, four pretty easily, uh, if you wanted to.
C
17:13Chad LeistikowHOST
Or you could go, you know, Tyreek Coleman, Kale Combs at guard, or even throw Peyton McCollum in there.
C
17:19Chad LeistikowHOST
Um, you could go smaller, quicker defensive at guard, too.
C
17:22Chad LeistikowHOST
So I like that.

So I think he'll be someone that can give you a stabilizer.
T

As far as other guys, something that stood out to me at the practice actually was that it seemed like Isaiah Howard was doing a fair amount of ball handling and initiating offense.
T
31:17Tyler TachmanHOST
So I think when you talk about who are the guys that can be that primary ball handler outside, or after Bennett Sturtz leaves, Kale Combs, Tate Sage, Peyton McCollum, Tyreek Coleman.
T
31:28Tyler TachmanHOST
But it seems like Isaiah Howard might potentially kind of be in that mix as well, and he, Ethan Harris hit a three and, uh, and Isaiah Howard was the one to assist on it.

Maybe they'll play through him in the post a little bit.
R
84:33RodHOST
So it's not like they're going to say Tyreek Coleman do for Iowa what Jeremy Fears does for Michigan State.
R
84:39RodHOST
It's not going to be that.
R
84:41RodHOST
But you have to assume that McCollum thinks this guy would get a lot better in terms of his decision making.

M

They have a couple of interesting four-star forwards and slash guards, Trey Thompson and Ethan Harris.

Ben McCollum will figure it out.
