I don't know, what is your initial impressions there?

Yeah, look, I think that, you know, obviously he has made it a goal to try and retain as much as possible, but he's got his own-

Before we do, though... just something i was thinking about decent little topic we won't spend too long for it i was watching the blue planet episode shouts to dave and the team but saw caleb foster nice department by the way boss um but it had me thinking something that we've went away from and i remember adam rowe um a couple years ago and asked john about it like a couple times about the season And so K was pretty traditional about throughout.

To me, that's kind of been like a Duke honor for guys that might not be a top five pick, but you got a Tyler Thornton out there, you got a Quinn Cook out there, shows their leadership.

John's more away from it, though, and not just like a one-off.

We didn't have one in 25, didn't have one last year officially named.

But, yeah, I think in 24, it was, you know, after we had Coach on that season, he was pissed, man, like the too tall, sitting on our scorer's table, lack of fight, getting kind of waxed in the Elite Eight in a bad kind of setting there.

I thought it was more reactionary to that.

But then it's kind of continued a little bit here, and so I just thought it was kind of curious of like, is that going away? Is he waiting for someone to just literally come take the seat and be like, I'm the captain now? Is that what he's looking for? Is that what he's wanting? don't know i'm curious i'm pretty sure john was a captain lance thomas is like a a big time well-known duke captain um i know jefferson another big like it's just been a role um that's been celebrated tyler thornton another one there um but yeah i thought i was curious where you at with

yeah i mean look you know even going back to when i played in high school look i wasn't the best player on the team but i played three years of rc i was the captain in my senior year uh you know again it's not about being the best player the the most talented guy just being vocal being a leader um you know obviously coach k you guys alluded to the military thing but i don't think it's you know it's not specific to that you know every team's always had a captain's uh you know an extension of the coach on the floor i think you know we were the only ones allowed to interact with the the referees yeah yeah exactly so um you know it is uh you know something out you know not a return to the norm under coach k but you know john's kind of making his own way and if that's you know wants to have everybody feel like they need to have a voice and not just you know two guys then you know i'm i'm fine with it but it is a little interesting to say the least i guess
