place to be nation welcome back to another edition of the movie review of the day here at the pop experience i am steve riddle back again for another go around and today we are continuing with our theme week this week where we're looking at movies set in high school of course we are uh the school season has just started back up for a majority i think of the country i know some started earlier than others but by this point um school should be back in session and obviously as we know throughout the years high school has always been a uh a popular um point of setting for specific movies and we had some good ones on tap for this week including the one I'm doing for you today which is quite possibly one of the biggest or most memorable films of not just this you know of being set in high school but also the 80s and I would definitely say help watch at least one of the actors in this film, if not a few of them.

She definitely left me kind of disappointed after watching the film.

My favorite scene easily has to be the scene of the parade when they perform the Beatles' Twist and Shout, and all these different people come in, and it's like this whole giant party.

Of those 67 songs, there were nine that were not primarily about relationships and love.
David PannellHOST
0:36
The nine songs were Twist and Shout, Roll Over Beethoven, Money (That's What I Want), Long Tall Sally, Matchbox, Rock and Roll Music, Kansas City/Hey Hey Hey Hey, Everybody's Trying to Be My Baby, and Bad Boy.
David PannellHOST

So all the Beatles' original songs up to that point had been about relationships and love.

And this might be a slight problem that the Fratellis are having with the press is that every time they compare themselves to another band, it will be like, for example, in that quote, the Beatles or when they're talking about when they're hated by the press they say lots of bands we love like Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd were also hated by the press I'm like you cannot just put yourself in the same sentence as Pink Floyd Led Zeppelin and the Beatles when you're the Fratellis now can you and indeed this would end up to him resenting this first album Costello Music he said I agree with some critics about it there's a decent percentage of it I didn't like it has a pop sheen and we don't want to be a pop band But he does have one big unfortunate problem, which he's very good at doing pop melodies, as we'll find out when Whistle for the Choir becomes their next single in December, a song that I much prefer.
