Tussock grass

Given my flagging energy by that point, it would have been nearly a nine month since I last did an overnight tramp, continuing on the Mount Summers track for the two hours was more appealing.

As was the scenery, with this section being my highlight of the weekend, starting with Tussock in the foreground and snowy mountains in the distance.

There was an unusual rock outcropping called the Bus Stop.

and further along a sign saying waterfall, five minutes, should never be ignored.

Okay, fine.

We did a hilarious, like, yeah, hike up the hill, got a few turns in some snow and then Tussock skied down to the lodge.

And so I guess like, maybe there was like a little bit of disappointment in the conditions.

Um, I think, you know, it'd been forecast that it could have been snow at Monganui and we were super excited to ski that first day.
