In 2020, workers renovating the De Zwarte Ruiter pub in Turnhout, Belgium, discovered a 16th-century jug that appeared to be used as a protective charm against witchcraft.

The discovery was significant because it was the first known archeological example of a witch bottle found in continental Europe outside England.

Witch bottles have also been found in the United States.
