and Turner I know last night wasn't the result that you guys wanted with the Braves or excuse me with the Pirates winning in the ninth inning but Murph and I were really impressed with the fight that you guys showed throughout the entire game being able to battle back so talk to us about what that vibe is like right right now in that locker room in that clubhouse with yourself and a lot of these younger guys getting the opportunity
6:17
yeah I think uh you know last night showed a lot of a lot of grit out of us I think Like you said, a lot of us are young guys that have played together in the minor leagues.
6:27
So, you know, we're familiar with each other.
6:30
We've been able to win in the minor leagues, so we're trying to keep that going up here and just fighting every pitch, every at-bat, you know, not taking any plays, any at-bats off.
6:40
And, you know, I think when you do that over the course of a nine-inning game, you know, good things can happen.
6:45
We weren't able to get the win, but, you know, I think it showed a lot of good fight out of us, though.
8:10
So what has that journey been like for you to finally make your big league debut?
8:16
Um, yeah, it wasn't the most conventional route, but I think, you know, it's, it's made it really enjoyable.
5:59

9:28
So what has that journey been like for you to finally make your big league debut?
9:33
Um, yeah, it wasn't the most conventional route, but I think, you know, it's, it's made it really enjoyable.
9:40
Um, so yeah, I played division two out of high school and then I transferred back to a D three, the Marietta college, which was in my hometown.
9:50
Um, and then after I graduated from there, I didn't get any, you know, calls for the draft.
9:56
So I went and played in the draft league and then still nothing happened after that.
10:00
So I went to go play Indy ball and then the Giants, uh, Signed me right before Indy Ball was going to start.
10:06
So, yeah, it wasn't the most conventional route, but I think, you know, it taught me a lot of life lessons and makes, you know, these moments here a lot more sweet.
10:29
So what would be your advice to some of these younger high school kids who maybe aren't getting those D1 offers right now?
7:43
So talk to us about what that vibe is like right now in that locker room, in that clubhouse with yourself and a lot of these younger guys getting the opportunity.
7:51
Yeah, I think, you know, last night showed a lot of, a lot of grit out of us.

So what has that journey been like for you to finally make your big league debut?
5:56
Did you have an inkling that you were gonna get a chance to play pro ball?
5:59
ball?Um, I know when I was in college, uh, my last year, I knew that there was a few teams looking at me, so, you know, there was kind of hope for something to happen.
6:09
Uh, but yeah, didn't get drafted, so I went and played in the draft league.
6:12
Still kind of knew there was a couple teams, um, you know, that I was on the radar.
6:16
And then, uh...
6:18
So yeah, it was something I was hoping for, and then the Giants signed me, uh, right before I was gonna go play indie ball.
6:22
How would you describe yourself as a player to Giants fans who haven't had a chance to watch you too much yet?
6:27
Yeah, so I'm, uh, you know, I'm a contact first kind of guy.
4:28
Did you have an inkling that you were going to get a chance to play pro ball?
4:33
Um, I know when I was in college, my last year, I knew that there was a few teams looking at me.

turner hill joined me on kmbr of course you can see him in a sacramento river cat uniform pj peltier the hitting coach there is expressing a little bit more of power numbers to you and what do you do in the month of june you hit a grand slam and the next day you hit a two run home run where'd all the power come there turner
8:47
yeah well pj's done a great job um It was really more of just an approach change and being willing to take shots early in counts or maybe on a pitcher that I'm seeing real well.
9:02
Because, you know, my whole career I've been more of like a slap hitter, see it deep and take it the other way.
9:07
But, you know, working with PJ and my approach, I've kind of learned that there's some counts and some pitchers that I can be okay maybe ambushing a fastball middle end and You know, if you catch it on the barrel out in front, it'll go.
9:22
So it's really kind of just been more of an approach thing for me.
9:51
Tell me a little bit about that.
9:54
Yeah, it's been, you know, I've been very simple with my approach this year and just really trusting my eyes and trusting my hands.
10:03
You know, when things are going well, that's when I can take those shots of, you know, trying to hit for power, but when I'm not feeling super great at the plate, I try to stay consistent by just grinding out at bats.
9:14
Where'd all the power come there, Turner?
9:17
[laughs] Yeah.
9:18
Well, P- PJ's done a great job.
9:19
Um, it was really more of just an approach change and, and being willing to, to take shots early in counts or maybe on a pitcher that I'm, I'm seeing real well.
9:32
Um, 'cause, you know, my whole career I've been more of, like, a slap hitter, see it deep and take it the other way.
9:37
But, you know, working with PJ, my approach, I've, I've kind of learned that there's some counts and some pitchers that I can, I can be okay maybe ambushing a fastball middle in.
9:48
And, you know, y- if you, if you catch it on the barrel out in front, it'll go.
10:12
And one of the things I r- I heard and I read was you said, "You know what? I understand I'll have ups and downs, but the word consistency is what I want to improve on." Tell me a little bit about that.
