Reddyville was an outpost of the Federal Army at Murfreesboro.

Woodbury had the same relation to the Confederate Army at Tullahoma.

for months after the big battle at stone river these outposts were in constant quarrel most of the trouble occurring naturally on the turnpike mentioned between detachments of cavalry sometimes the infantry and artillery took a hand in the game by way of showing their good will One night a squadron of Federal horse, commanded by Major Seedle, a gallant and skilful officer, moved out from Readyville on an uncommonly hazardous enterprise requiring secrecy, caution, and silence.

Passing the infantry pickets, the detachment soon afterward approached two cavalry videttes staring hard into the darkness ahead—there should have been three—and Where is your other man? said the Major.

And it might actually make an interesting episode on its own, but we can't really go into a whole lot of detail in this episode.

It's called the Tullahoma Campaign, and it's also one of the most obscure campaigns in the war because there aren't any major battles.

There are skirmishes and small battles, but no big ones like we're about to talk about.

But it's almost entirely a campaign of maneuver where Rosecrans is able to maneuver his troops in such a way that forces Bragg's army to progressively retreat out of central and then southeast Tennessee to the point where Bragg abandons Chattanooga, this extremely important, vital city and rail link.

Now, Lee and Jefferson Davis both oppose sending him West.

Lee doesn't want to lose his best subordinate, and Jefferson Davis basically doesn't want to replace Bragg.

So they both strongly resist Longstreet's request to go West for as long as they possibly can until basically after the Tullahoma campaign ends and Rosecrans is basically going into Georgia, they can't deny the reality of the situation anymore, and they finally acquiesce to Longstreet's request and agree that he and two divisions from his corps, that of John Bell Hood and Lafayette Claus Can go to the west and go and help Bragg's army.

So they are on the train, speeding it towards northern Georgia to go and reinforce Bragg's army.

And if you do that, you should be close to 35 points.

But y'all obviously saw, especially against Tullahoma, gotta red zone.

... how much of that factors in for kids?

So if you wanna know the truth about how I think it, I think a lot of our coaching staff thinks about it, is if I call the right plays and we score against Tullahoma the three times in the first half to put the true points on the board, don't matter how you walk into halftime.

Like that's almost insurmountable.
