But in the early stages of that conflict, it was, uh, quite intense.

Day one, I did my unit checkout.

On day two, I got my feet wet.

And on day three, the bottom fell out of her.

A mission that was later the squadron mission of the year.

It was for two gentlemen that had been thrown from their capsized fishing boat.

All the odds were stacked against us and against them.

What does that involve?

So, you know, within the instructional side, some of your listeners might not be aware, you, you start off as a C category instructor, uh, which really is an entry-level instructor, and that's just a, a license to, to learn more about instructing.

Then you jump into the B category of instruction, and that's really, the B cats are our workhorse guys and gals.

They-- You spend the most time as a B cat.

You're honing your skill as an instructor.

You're building on that, um, skill.

You, you get to the point where, okay, you're, you're on the senior side of the B cat, and now you are getting some of the more, um, let's say the, the students are having difficulties, you know, certain difficulties.

What challenges did COVID introduce into operations in Gander?

Um, so this was after I'd gotten my private pilot license.

Of course, I'm, I'm really excited.

Now I am a pilot, right? I'm not just a trainee.

I've got a license to show that I'm a, I'm a pilot.

Not commercial, but I can carry passengers.
