Triumph Herald

You know, we used to go traveling around Europe.

We had a convertible Triumph Herald.

And it was, or both, we went, we had two.

We had lots of amazing Hondas in Italy, et cetera.

So, uh, it was run by a, a, a, power plant was a one liter Ford, uh, engine.

Um, it had Triumph Herald steering and suspension.

Which means it really was great.

[laughs]

Oh, yeah.

I mean, we're driving a Triumph Herald.

But what, what's cool about this is, uh, Sir, uh, Jackie Stewart won some of his earliest races in this car.

That's ama- I, I'd never seen one.

If you're in a brand new car, that's great.

Back when I had a car, I don't have a car at the moment, but when I had a car, it was around very old cars, and the car I had for many years was a 1960 Triumph Herald.

I actually passed it on to a friend in the Herald community, so it still lives.

But wherever I went with that...

The entire boot was full of all my tools, plus a huge box of all the things that could possibly repair a Triumph Herald.

All different fasteners, lots and lots of different types of wire, hose clips, that two-part tape kit for doing up radiator hoses, plus a spare set of radiator hoses, plus the tools and bits and pieces for doing brake pipes, and all manner of sort of random things, just in case I need them.

yeah i mean that's a good enough tip all right

We were saying, let us get you a limousine, take you home, Prime Minister.

And he always liked to drive his little white Triumph Herald.

I mean, he had some very intriguing positive characteristics, a strange melange, a mix of things with Muldoon, this incredible mindset.

but allied to some very unusual 1950s style personal judgments and values.
