Triticale is interesting for people that use it within season because its ability to overwinter.

But to me, that question of am I using it purely as emergency or am I playing this long game of putting up a bigger feed pile with the benefit of that winter period, that vernalization, is fundamentally looking at your feed inventories and can you get past next May, right? Because even then it's tight, right? Like 11 months of feed is still tight, but it might get you to that window to harvest that stuff next spring.
