Again, more nuances there.

So you might get all these false negatives or even a false positive where you think it's the AM fungi, but it's actually Trichoderma in the mix or something.

But where it all adds up to maybe more confusion than I would like.

But I think we'll eventually just be clarified as more people learn about it and they'll need all the terms.

What kind? And there's huge questions there because we can't isolate some fungi of the soil, as I said early on.

And there's easy ways to do that, even the simpler molds and things.

Trichoderma is one, but there's many other molds you can isolate from the soil and look at and name.

but then you ask, okay, what's it doing? And so what's this ecological role? I don't know.

The review highlights growing concerns around fungicide resistance in Botrytis cinerea, alongside environmental pressures to reduce chemical inputs.

A wide range of microorganisms have shown potential, including Bacillus and Pseudomonas bacteria, yeasts such as Saccharomyces and Metchnicoea, and filamentous fungi including Trichoderma.

These biological agents can suppress Botrytis through several mechanisms, including competition for nutrients and colonization sites, production of enzymes that degrade fungal cell walls, and stimulation of grapevine defense responses.

However, their field performance is strongly influenced by environmental conditions, with higher temperatures and lower humidity generally favoring biological activity.

and bacillus can do that in a. um another organic way where it's creating a sort of bio shield against several different molds mildews and even uh bugs and things of that nature so there's tons and tons of options i think that we definitely helped out the hacky home grower and anybody else who's curious on that question i got to give a big shout out to a guy i met a while ago at a turkey hunting convention his name's will i'm not going to use the full name because i didn't ask for their permission But Will knows who they are, I'm sure, and they watch the show and they listen to the show.

Trichoderma obviously can persist.

That's active dry yeast.

That obviously can dry down and reanimate.

There's a few strains that are not good.

Trichoderma aggressive is a good name.

is a very important pathogen in mushrooms.

And when we first started with Trichoderma, back up a little bit, a very important corollary of all this is that we, when I started this, there were, based on morphology, there were nine species identified, according to one treatise.

Now, based on molecular techniques, there's 258.

And this has really been very important because, for example, people, when we first started talking about what was then called trichoderma harzianum, now afroharzianum, it was not known to be distinct from the mushroom pathogens, but with the new taxonomy, they were able to distinguish those.

So there could be generational improvements.

I have seen papers to that effect, but I don't have personal knowledge that this does occur.
