Triangle Park

It seemed like it was four stories tall, this slide.

It was at Triangle Park in Dayton, Ohio, which was across the street from what was then the Dayton Museum of Natural History.

And now has a different name.

I think it's called the Boonshaft something or other.

But part of, uh, this slide was so much fun because you really, you climbed up a spiral staircase to get to the top of the slide.

And, you know, I'm, I'm guessing the slide was like eight feet tall, but to me it seemed very, very tall.

And there was the added element of danger that, um, as a little boy, I went to this summer program at the, the, um, the Natural History Museum in Dayton, and we would sometimes cross the street into Triangle Park and have our lunch.

And when some of the very racist grownups who I talked to about this in my life learned that we were, they were letting children go to Triangle Park during the day to scandalize these grownups because, oh my God, you're you're going to be immediately mugged and stabbed to death by the teeming hordes of...
