And so, and that's this year, bluegrass blues, Desiree roots is coming and doing an orchestra program with us that we've commissioned an orchestra, a set of orchestra parts.

And we have, Trey Hensley, the Grammy award-winning guitarist, bluegrass guitarist coming.

And so we have a variety of things in the evening, but it's really more than that because what we're very proud that we combine community and artistry in a really substantive way.

So every morning we have coffee talks where we dive into the music that people might hear or the musicians lives and what that's like.

picked up guitar some in high school and then started songwriting when i was a sad teenager and then that kind of just stuck around that was kind of the only constant musically was just that i was uh skipping the typical therapy route and just writing songs instead of the

therapy yeah You hang out with Trey Hensley? Oh,

yeah, man.

I know Trey.

That happened last year with a couple of people, but...

I remember, you know, Rob Ikes and Trey Hensley.

I don't think many people knew who they were.

And they just blew the place apart.

And earlier in its chart run, it made it all the way to number one.

Back this week at sharing number 19, here's Trey Hensley, Tucson.

That's Tucson, written by Trey Hensley, and it's from his album Can't Outrun the Blues on Pine Castle Records.

It's now spent 19 weeks on the countdown.

It's already been number one.

Again, I wanted to keep the door open for more exploration.

So I used a resonator, an old, uh, National Trojan mid-'30s with Trey Hensley.

Uh, with Tommy Emmanuel, he and I both have, uh, guitars made by the pre-war company, uh, Triple O...

I think his is a Triple O 28.

The Mountain Grass Festival is in Bright this year and always good fun to go to if you like travelling.

And I saw Rob Ikes and Trey Hensley play.

Rob Ikes on dobro, of course, and Trey Hensley on guitar.

And they were...

They sort of played some very esoteric type music, which wasn't quite what I anticipated.

I mean, it reminds me also of, um, you know, I always try to think about this when I say, "Oh, the correct right hand is blah blah blah." You know, we talk about Chris Thile going from the open hand to the closed hand.

Uh, there's a great, um, interview with Trey Hensley where he's talking about a situation where he had some hand or wrist problems or, I mean, I wouldn't know if it was carpal tunnel or his elbow, whatever it was, where he was playing with a closed hand, switched to an open hand, and it seemed to fix some of the problems.

Or, or sometimes switching to the open hand.

Which to me just means not only is there closed hand versus open hand, there's also, like, different ways of handling each of those, because the way that Jake or Trey or Chris Thile does the closed hand are all very different.
