And that's how that started.

Another key area where we see Australian stories and adaptations is on the stage and screen.

Of course, in recent years there've been stage adaptations of Boy Swallows Universe by Trent Dalton, The Weekend by Charlotte Wood, Pip Williams' Dictionary of Lost Words.

Um, on TV there's also been Boy Swallows Universe, Richard Flanagan's, um, Narrow Road to the Deep North.

Nadine, how important is it for us to see Australian stories on our screens, and even better if they're adapted from Australian books? Well, it's ma- the most important thing we can fight for at the moment.

And now as a parent of three teens myself, I'm always grateful when other authors choose to depict the experience on the page with sensitivity and insight.

So, Emma, congratulations on producing yet another wonderful book, one that we didn't even talk about this, has been enthusiastically endorsed by one of Australia's most popular writers, none other than Trent Dalton.

So I figure that if Trent Dalton loves it, it's good enough for everyone else.
