And I'm like, how the hell does that work? So, like, everything was like, you know, I remember every letter page was like, oh, are you going to bring back Kor? Can't use him.

Are you going to bring back Trelane? Can't use him.

You know, and I'm like, Why the hell did you buy these rights then? Anyway.

I'm done.

'Cause I di- I didn't get a chance to.

So I have, um, this is the second time I've missed commenting on a Trelane episode.

It's like Trelane himself has cursed me.

[laughs]

But that must mean he doesn't like compliments-

It would have made sense to have Delancey.

Or do you think they're holding on to that, to have a Trelane and Delancey moment maybe in the last season? You know what? That's actually something I never considered

because we did.

I never expect to see Delancey.

No.

But maybe something next season could make sense.

I mean, they're teasing a lot with the Trelane character.

Yeah.

Sure.

On a holodeck where we think it's all a holodeck in a holodeck, but it actually is Trelane's son slash father,

Hugh.

There you go.

Um, They got into some heavy stuff with Pike.

I think that Rhys Darby is well cast as Trelane.

Whether I think Trelane should be on this show or not, I think he does a good job with it.

And they sort of set it up in this one that, I mean, obviously, I mean, they didn't say it, say it, but it's Trelane and he's a Q, right? And so, and they're setting it up like Trelane is the Q that discovered humanity and led to their interest in humanity that we see in TNG and onward.

Which is fine.

I mean, for me, I guess I would...

In my head canon, Squire of Gothos takes place earlier for Q, and then he rewound it and messed with the Strange New Worlds crew because it doesn't really jive.

But I think it also kind of undercuts what Trelane was in the Squire of

I mean, let's face it.

So then we go to the control room, and then Trelane is visited by a teacher, and that's the only thing I could guess.

He's in this, like, weird costume.

Well, he says this is like a project, doesn't he, at some point?

And Pike gets all emotional.

Then he suddenly is in his quarters by himself and the lighting is normal.

So then we see Trelane and his teacher are sitting there at the control panel, you know, watching the video.

And they're both like eating popcorn.

And it turns out at the end that he's basically like a young child, that the parents show up and scold him for not playing with his toy as well, and he throws a tantrum, but his parents end up coming and, you don't see them, we hear the voices, say, okay, it's time to basically, it's time to come in, you know, and they kind of basically scold their unruly child.

This Trelane that we've gotten in these two episodes now, the fake wedding and this one, seems much more familiar and comfortable with you know, humans.

He's now had some experience with them.

Uh, he doesn't seem so petulant.

I mean, obviously he's, he's very mischievous, but he doesn't come off as, as childishly petulant as, um, the character was played in the Squire of Gothis episode, which leads me and my pet canon to think that even though this Trelane, uh, obviously is meeting the Starfleet characters at an earlier point than the original theories.

I'm thinking this is an older Trelane.

And if he's a Q, then time and space and, you know, living with an order is irrelevant.

It doesn't matter.
