Travis Meadows

being literal about this.

I mean, they have songwriters that write with veterans and, that, like, dude, I'm not joking, like, these are the songwriters I've been trying to get into a room with to write a song for years, I mean, these are, like, Jeffrey Steele, you know, I mean, fuck, we're talking to Mike, Mike Byer, the director on the last episode, I mean, he wrote his song with Travis Meadows, man, dude, these they bring in like really great songwriters and it's not just that they care about what they're doing.

Like the craft is important to these guys.

And so it's, you, you want to go in there and write a song with, with the, with the veteran, you know, you want to, you want them to get out of it.

... and I needed to talk to somebody.

I'm like, "Who am I gonna talk to?" And I've always got Travis Meadows, the songwriter, to call, and I've called him at 3:00 o'clock in the morning and he said, "Uh, I love you.

Try again tomorrow, all right?" Like, okay.

Well, I'd scared the shit out of myself.

"Here you go.

It's a screwed up thing you did last night, and you're here, which is great," you know?

[laughs] Uh, I was very happy to hear you mention Travis Meadows.

Steve and I are very big fans of, of his songwriting, so he is an-

I think of, like, Stephen Wilson Jr.

I think of Travis Meadows.

Yes.

Oh, yeah.

Yeah.

Good luck with that.

Or Travis Meadows.

Yeah, good

And, uh, so, you know, I thought, "Okay, well, I'm gonna go write a song." You know, I don't, I don't know nothing about songwriting, you know, but I, man, I took my guitar and everything.

I'm like, "I'm gonna go in there and play and do whatever." And, uh, so we get in there, and I, I sit down with Travis Meadows and Mark Beeson, and, uh, never heard of them dudes in my life, you know.

And-

Dude, Travis is a monster.

Well, man, I want to, uh, I'm gonna take a minute, uh, real quick.

I, I wanna play, uh, I wanna play your song.

Uh, this is, uh, Travis Meadows'-

Mm-hmm

Yeah.

But Travis Meadows.

Really? Right on.

Familiar? I remember the name.

I remember the name.

Unreal.

In fact, I played somewhere at a football party the other night, and I sat on the porch playing somebody, Travis Meadows.

Yeah.
