We've got a lot more infrastructure than the rest of Africa.

I think Transnet are doing good things.

This privatization is a step in the right direction.

The young population, I think, gives me a lot of hope.

I mean, I think that was always going to be a more of a medium term story.

I mean, the reforms you're referring to include things like private companies being able to run trains, freight trains on Transnet's network.

I mean, that's always going to be a sort of 18 to 24-month process to get that going.

Similarly, with more private projects on the electricity side.

Now, the commission had referred Karim for criminal prosecution on these matters and President Ramaphosa has sworn fit to look into these deals and potentially have the SIUC's assets.

Now, this proclamation covers Karim's investment company, Ziggy Investments, and Transnet's coach lines and 168 million Rand Northwest transportation tender, which had been flagged at the Madalanga Commission of Inquiry.

Now, it is this same joint venture, which has been flagged and is being investigated by the SIU, which has financial flows that connect the company to the alleged Big Five cartel leader, Jotham Msibi.

And I don't know the facts, but I can imagine if I was Transnet and I knew I'm going to give this thing away in a year from now, you would have done as little as possible.

So the handover... vehicle that you got was probably not in the best shape in any case.

So give it time.

But with the private sector participation program, it is a program that is being implemented for the interest of the country.

And it is a collaboration between the Department of Transport, Transnet as well as an owner of those assets and the private sector and I think here we're looking for definitely a win-win for South Africa and I have no doubt that that is achievable and whatever challenges we may face we can definitely overcome because we all have one objective and that is to grow the economy of our country.
