And so I opened up that box.

tapped into the TTL version of the serial data because it spits out RS-232 on the back, but the microcontroller doesn't want RS-232.

It wants TTL.

So I tapped into the little TTL, like where on the board the signals are, and I got power off the board and everything and ran that up to my little ESP32S3, wired up one of the WIS 5500...

Ethernet modules to it, and this is going to be my new NTP server.

And it will consume very little power, and it will have nanosecond precision, and I will be very happy.
