For too long, tech companies have been running real-time, unregulated user testing of their products in Australia.

And their platforms and tools have infiltrated our daily lives in ways we could never have possibly imagined.

Some good, but some with terrible consequences.

And there is a global reckoning coming for big tech.

It started here in Australia with our world-leading social media laws protecting young Australians from the harms of social media.

But Australian parents are understandably still worried about how they can protect their kids on other platforms like online games and AI chatbots.

Because online harms have real-world consequences, especially for young people.

girls getting advice from a chat pot about how to live on just 600 calories a day, boys getting cyber bullied on online games, teenagers doing illegal and dangerous stunts because they've seen them online.

And that is the second big recommendation coming out of this report.

They say the Australian government must urgently... and effectively regulate social media platforms to intervene in the significant harm that occurs as a result of their business models.

This work should be undertaken in collaboration with the eSafety Commissioner to provide best practice advice and implementation tools to ensure online safety.

So this report that's released on Monday says the Armanisi government is to urgently act.

I loved it.

Well, I've been thinking a lot about just a lot of things recently, and I found myself in my recent article, Criticizing Therapy First, which you read.

Lisa Duvall left a comment, and I responded to her, and then I saw a reflection for myself in my response because what I found myself saying is that the people I've connected with the best are have this energy about them where they don't necessarily have to say this but their vibe gives off a sense of man this life shit is really hard it's really crazy being human isn't it this is tough right and there's like a warmth in that um and the people who I feel put off by are And maybe this is just my experience of them.

Maybe other people experiencing them differently, right? But there's more of like a coldness where I get the sense that they're trying to convince people that they've got this life shit mastered.

And one game that people have tried to play with me a lot is the whole let me get her to do something that I can use to make her look bad and then point and say how bad she is because of that situation I provoked her into.

I have been in that situation so many times that I feel, like, very resistant to it.

And so being pulled into an argument, especially, like, in the places you're talking about, social media, right? Like, who deserves that? that from me, right? And then especially like considering that my foray into public life a few years ago back in, well, it's been five years now, right? And I wrote about that in my reflections on Therapy First.

I wrote a lot of reflection that I needed to process of what the last five years have been.

And then you've got people like Hannah Ferguson from the left saying that, you know, she supports the Fix Our Feeds campaign and Teach Us Consent, which is calling for the federal government action to require social media platforms to make their algorithms opt in under the digital duty of care.

So it's not
