Trans-Am Series

Yes, Gold Coast is next for Brodie, so my co-driver duties are done for the year.

I've actually got my own little race program where I'm running what they call the Trans Am Series.

I've got my 420 Mustang.

We're gunning for a third straight championship title in that as well.

But as the city of Daytona learned back in 1935, racing ain't cheap.

After two wrecks early in his first SCCA Trans-Am season, Roush couldn't afford to bring his team west for the next two races.

So he got creative.

Roush pitched a deal to Red Poling, VP at Ford Performance, who had taken note that Roush's car was in position to win in the first race before it ran off track.

Well, those cars are basically exactly the same as the cars you see that compete in the Trans-Am Championship.

So the platform is completely the same now.

They're on the same tire.

I know we talked, I think it was earlier this season after your first win at Hickory, and we talked about the development of your career, and obviously with the Trans Am title last year, now ARCA East Championship this year.

How much better of a race car driver are you now, 365 days from that Trans Am Championship to now being an ARCA champion?

Yeah, definitely.

I think I've grown a lot, just like I was saying, grown a lot.

Right.

And so this was a legitimate reason why Audi went into go race in the 1988 Trans Am series.

This was part of the reason.

Now, also, the reason why they wanted to go racing in America as well, not only to rebuild their reputation amongst American consumers, but also to highlight their new engineering feat of developing a consumer all-wheel drive system in regular passenger vehicles, the Quattro system.

Yeah, I mean, there's a long and storied history of Audi and racing.

And prior to this entry in the Trans Am Series in 1988, one year before that, right, they showed up at Pikes Peak.

Yes, they had a pretty long history at Pikes Peak.

They were going to Pikes Peak back until 1984 was the first time Audi ran the Pikes Peak hill climb.

The first of the Supercars Enduros is the Airtouch 500 at Shell V-Power Motorsport Park at the Bend.

It's the 10th round of the championship, which will include the Porsche Panadix and Carrera Cup, round four, the Trans Am Series round five, the Touring Car Masters round five, and round five of Aussie Racing Cars, plus round four of Australian Prototypes.
