year.
Rob LucuriaHOST
It's just wrong.
Grant CrenshawHOST
No, they're going to be competitive every single year in the Oscars and stuff, because they do make these artsy films, and some of them are going to rise to the top.
Grant CrenshawHOST
We saw this with Trained Dreams.
Grant CrenshawHOST
We saw this with Frankenstein, both of which were great last year.
Grant CrenshawHOST
We loved both of those films.
Marc FarquharHOST
That's a sub there.
Marc FarquharHOST
So it's just ahead of Remember the Titans and The Devil Wears Prada, and it's just behind Train Dreams and Predator.
Marc FarquharHOST
Wow.

TomPANELIST
It features an understated yet gut-wrenching performance from Vicky Creeps as a caring mother who has a whole world taken from her and will do everything she can to try and reclaim it.
TomPANELIST
And just missing out on my top five is Train Dreams that comes in at number six.
TomPANELIST
This is a mesmerizing period drama from Clint Bentley that conjures up comparisons to Malick with its wonderful cinematography and a bleak storyline that feels like it could have been penned by Cormac McCarthy.
TomPANELIST
Joel Edgerton is superb in the lead.
Matt BelloniGUEST
They did it with Amelia Perez.
Matt BelloniGUEST
They did it with Train Dreams last year.
Matt BelloniGUEST
They bought that at Sundance.
Matt BelloniGUEST
And you don't want to have to rely on going to the market and just overpaying for finished films.
Billy BarnellHOST
and then something we've been asking our guests on half the picture a lot lately is at the end of the show is a recommendation so like what kind of books they've been reading that they've loved what kind of films they've seen they've liked albums you know what have you been sort of consuming lately that's been firing you up and that you've loved
Peter CapaldiGUEST
well there's a film i've seen which i love which is actually maybe a little bit out of date maybe comes from earlier of the year called train dreams
Billy BarnellHOST
Yes.
Billy BarnellHOST
Have you seen that? I haven't seen it.
Peter CapaldiGUEST

Greg SrisavasdiHOST
They both won Supporting Actor.
Greg SrisavasdiHOST
awards for their performance they shared that award together because they were lockstep in this movie wonderful film if you do not all these things are not convincing you i will say this the movie is beautifully shot the cinematographer is adolfo veloso adolfo veloso's last film that he shot was train dreams Now, they're not out in the forest and it doesn't span time like that movie does.
Greg SrisavasdiHOST
But if you realize how beautiful, of course, if you are a fan of Adolfo's DP work in Train Dreams, you're going to get, think of his talent within the small confines of a London apartment or an apartment in Newcastle or different sections of England.
Greg SrisavasdiHOST
And he does a really great job of the framing, the locales.
Greg SrisavasdiHOST
It's a visually interesting movie.
Greg SrisavasdiHOST
I'll say it.
Greg SrisavasdiHOST
This is how I can say it.
Greg SrisavasdiHOST
Again, like I said, the DP is from Train Dreams, right? So he has a lot of skills, right? They could have made this movie very showy visually.
