Trafford Centre

This is all before the war.

And then we go through the mall and there's a picture of a mall with a fountain and it actually looks like Trafford Centre.

And loads of children at the north will say Trafford Centre.

Most children will say London, New York.

I'll say, where were these pictures taken? And they'll say exactly where they were taken.

... um, in 1998 when Selfridges was coming to Manchester.

So that was a huge deal, and I remember they were doing recruitment drives at schools and everything, um, to try and get people into what was going to be Selfridges at the Trafford Centre.

There were hundreds and hundreds of employees, and I was lucky enough to go through one of their assessment centers and actually get a place working at Selfridges, and I started there in menswear, and that was in 1998.

So that's when the Trafford Centre opened.

So it opened on the 10th of September 1998.

Wow.

So I started in the August.

So I, I was 17 when I started.

We were at the Trafford Centre, bruv, and he just, and I said to him, why you got, what is it, we're getting cinema? He said, well, you never know, just in case.

Just in case, bruv.

So get stuck in and just enjoy the ride.

It's going to sound utterly bizarre, but if there was a terrorist attack in the Trafford Centre today...

And they put a message out on the negotiator WhatsApp group or whatever version of that that they've got now saying who is available to deploy.

The negotiators would be fighting for that job.

Eventually, we started to see listings for the 9th at the cinemas around because a lot of us kept checking.

And then this one basically said, Monday the 5th, premiere in Manchester at Trafford Centre, which is the big shopping place, the Odeon at Trafford Centre.

So literally, as many people have said that, quickest email reply ever done yes please say yes please plus one no access requirements that was it and then we've not heard anything and we just had various people going have you heard anything yet online and in the groups and things and no one but then today people who've got the London invites so the London one is what I think is where we all think Liam and Noel are going or at least that's the rumor mill again I don't think we've had any official word of anything But people seem to think that Liam and Noel will be going to that.

So it was a great opportunity to, to work with Rick.

We had a, we had a first kind of meeting at the Pret A Manger at Selfridges at the Trafford Center.

He talked me through this kind of potential role of, you know, helping him come up with ideas for videos and dealing with some of the golf brands, because at the time Rick was still coaching.

So twice a week he was giving lessons to golfers while trying to run a YouTube business and trying to deal with, you know, brands on the new driver that he was gonna review or, you know, dealing with, um, ideas or the edits he was having done by Tim.

I got the last MacBook Air in the whole of the Trafford Centre.
