Tradesman called for custom, and I promised Farmerson the ironmonger to give him a turn if I wanted any nails or tools.

By the by, that reminds me, there is no key to our bedroom door, and the bells must be seen to.

The parlour bell is broken, and the front door rings up in the servant's bedroom, which is ridiculous.

Dear friend Gowing dropped in, but wouldn't stay, saying there was an infernal smell of paint.

April 4th.

Tradesman still calling.

Carrie being out, I arranged to deal with Horwin, who seemed a civil butcher with a nice clean shop.

That's right around the going rate.

And yeah, people are just happy to pay that because right now you cannot get Tradespeople to come to your house.

I mean, that's-- I find that all the time people are calling me and saying, "Well, you're the f- I've called five electricians.

You're the first one to call me back."

And my dad was a roof tiler and, you know, worked in his hands.

He was a tradesman.

All his friends were.

And I just wanted to be like him.

Again, probably there for the social side of things and because everyone else was there and because there was beers.

So I did that, and I remember chatting to, yeah, a guy.

I thought, oh, look, I'm probably going to be a tradesman.

Dad was a tradesman.
