From a design perspective, anytime you've got a platform that is going to do two things, it's going to be a compromise in some areas.

And so there were aspects of CLAR that were great for ICE engines, and there were some that were good for EV, but it was never optimized for either of those things.

bZ4X concept.

Based on the automaker's e-TNGA platform that was co-developed by Toyota and Subaru, the resulting production model, which would become the Toyota bZ4X, was introduced actually to the North American market in 2022.

2025, last year, the model received a major refresh that included design updates and major mechanical improvements, such as more efficient electric motors, improved cooling, and higher output.

Also that year, an extended-length wagon-like version was also introduced, the bZ Woodland for Toyota and the Trailseeker for Subaru.

Right? It's, it's the same car underneath.

It's the TNGA-F architecture.

Uh, it's very, it's interesting, on, on paper, the ground clearances are pretty different.

In reality, the ground clearance are essentially the same.

And if they're the same amount of money.

Then they just, for the Crown Signia, they're like, oh, we can spend all this money on the interior because the platform is already paid for by like every other platform we share with because everything is TNGA.

And then on the EV, they're like, ooh, sorry.

All that money is in your 375 horsepower dual motor electric drivetrain.
