Toyota Motor Corporation on September 10th launched its take on an affordable go-kart model for adults and children.

While public roads are a no-go, the GR cart is designed for zooming through dedicated closed-course circuits and at the company's retail stores named GR Garage nationwide.

"We focused on making it fun for users," a company official said.

Standard overseas models like the GR cart usually cost around one point five million yen, nine thousand seven hundred dollars.

However, Toyota priced its model at three hundred eighty-five thousand yen, significantly lower than its competitors.

It used welding robots at its factories and chose relatively inexpensive pipes to lower costs.

Toyota is expanding into the world of go-karts.

Gazoo Racing, Toyota's racing division, is gonna start selling an entry-level racing go-kart that features sliding pedals and a tilting steering wheel so both children and adults can ride.

Power comes from a carbureted 215cc engine that's linked to the rear axle via a rubber belt.

The kart is made at a workshop in Japan that still follows the principles of the Toyota production system and pricing starts at about $2,500.
