Their power sits right beside pain you can feel on the page.

So there's been many decades of research and biologic- biographical studies of creative geniuses like Van Gogh, for example, have consistently revealed an overrepresentation of bipolar spectrum disorders.

And much of this work is really summarized in a wonderful book by Kay Redfield Jamison called Touched with Fire, which was inspirational to me on this topic, and I highly recommend it.
