Torridon

Uh, and sometimes I've done them before, and you'd like to go and visit them in different seasons and, um, very specific scenes.

There was one last, couple years ago up, um, Liathach in Torridon.

Mm-hmm.

And I'd been up quite a number of times.

really um and then but then i started doing like different like that was that was um so 2015 i did highland trail 550 okay in in may and i learned a lot of scratch in the end That was, I was totally unprepared, massively unprepared.

I led it to Torridon, but it was hammering down, awful weather.

And I was on a, I had a Santa Cruz tall boy mountain bike.

Yeah.

Um, I did one trip where I literally got on the train, um, to Glasgow without any idea of where I was going to go.

Um, got out at Glasgow Station, pointed the bike north, and, you know, I finished up i- um, in Duress, having gone right the way up the west coast through all the little places like Al- Applecross and, uh, Torridon and so on.

That was a, a spectacular, uh, three-week trip.

Um, the other one I would say probably just for sheer sense of achievement would be, um, when I was in Colorado, I cycle, I climbed Mount Evans, which is the highest paved road in North America.

Uh, two of them were in the Mamores, uh, three of those were in the Grey Corries, and four of those were in the last 20 minutes coming off Ben Nevis, or last hour anyway, coming off Ben Nevis.

Um, [laughs] it's just crazy that you can, that you can have these type of adventures here in, in the UK And this isn't even the remote-- most remote area of Scotland, right? There's Assynt, there's Knoydart, there's Torridon, you know, other, other areas of Scotland that I haven't had the chance to visit yet that, that are far more remote than this.

Um, it is absolutely incredible and something that should be embraced, albeit, of course, there is a sense of responsibility that comes with that.

You need to be-- you had-- need to have good mountain craft, you need to have good planning, you need to have good execution, and make smart decisions.
