We're picking that back up now in real time to discuss a new tool that one of the most respected practitioners in the field has developed to not only fill the gap left by ancestry, but help casework move forward.

One of our ongoing goals on this show is to help our audience understand the science behind cold casework.

To talk through what that meant, I sat down in January with Karen Binder, now director of the IgG Center at Ramapo College and one of the field's earliest practitioners.

So when my friend Tracy Boyle posted on LinkedIn in June about a new tool called TreeScope built for working with DNA-matched trees, I messaged her within a couple of minutes.

So, what exactly is Wiki Loves Monuments? It is an annual international photography competition that invites both amateur and professional photographers to document historic sites, listed buildings, and other cultural heritage monuments.

The photographs are then uploaded to Wikimedia Commons under a free license so that they can be used and shared as part of the world's free knowledge.

Organizers can use it to connect target articles with events and track contributions.

Another interesting development is OpenSpeaks.

The Community Language Documentation Tools, Subtitler, Tome, and Bento have reached stable release together with the new media dashboard.
