Tony Peluso

There was no farewell celebration, no final bow prepared for the occasion, and no sense that anyone was witnessing the end of an era.

Tony Peluso remembered how strangely abrupt it felt.

After nearly a decade of airports, hotels, rehearsals, and stages, the Carpenters touring operation simply stopped.

Richard did not intend for that night to become their final professional concert.

Between performances on September fourth, Richard informed Karen and the people around them that he could not do another show.

Management was told, and then the musicians and crew received the news.

Tony Peluso never forgot how unceremonious it was.

A career that had filled arenas and television screens did not conclude with a grand finale.
