... for communication and safety so they respect it and they know that how frustrating it is when someone's tying up a channel.

Tony CrookGUEST
If you're a caravanner and you're in convoy with some friends or family and you're just communicating while you're, you're traveling along, if you're on a particular channel and someone gets on there and starts being a pest, you can just jump to another channel.

Tony CrookGUEST
Where it does become an issue is those well-known and well-used channels, 18 the RV channel, 29 the Pacific Highway channel, 40 the, the National Highway channel.

Tony CrookGUEST
When someone's on one of those channels being a pest it's very hard to just say, "Oh, we'll jump off 40," because many truckies, many four-wheel drivers like myself, many caravanners will monitor 40 because that's where the majority of the radio traffic is.

But we get the public to come and see the trucks, to talk to the drivers, to see us as people.

What's the story with UHF and people who have too much time on their hands and they just want to be assholes? How do you combat

Tony CrookGUEST
The beauty of UHF seeing me in Australia... is the fact that it is an open communication platform with no barriers.

Tony CrookGUEST
So the fact that you can roll into your local truck shop, you can buy UHFCB radio, very easy to install on your vehicle, switch it on, no licensing, no nothing.

Tony CrookGUEST
So off the back of my conversation with Ben Casella, uh, I started thinking about this, and I'm not someone that will go and make a move really quickly without trying to understand more of the picture and get some different inputs.

Tony CrookGUEST
So one of the first conversations I had following that podcast with Ben was with, uh, a couple of gentlemen from the New South Wales ACT Four-Wheel Drive Association.

Tony CrookGUEST
So Craig Thomas, who was the president of that organization for near on 15 years, he only recently retired.

Tony CrookGUEST
And I sat down with those two guys and a good mate of mine, uh, Nick Finch, who runs Solve Off-Road down in Sydney, and we just talked about what was going on.
