Probably like yourself, I was a little bit curious.

And I urge anyone thinking of buying a Chinese car to watch Four Corners and do a little bit of research.

And I think after anyone watches that episode last night, they'll change their mind 100%.

I would like to think that's the case, Tony, but I doubt it would.

I think there was a journalist, a lady motoring journalist from, I think it was drive.com.au, halfway through it, and I think she made a valid point.

I, I note that on the episode last night, Chris Bowen's gonna get a lot of attention for some of the silly things I think he said.

But then you've got, um, you've got other government ministers there, including Tony Burke, uh, who said, "Well, look, uh," to, to the journalists, "Each, each thing in their own time." And he said, "Look, we, we, we've moved to tighten regulations around, um, washing machines and fridges" that obviously have some sort of telematic system in their smart this-

Yeah

... and smart that, uh, in, in there, but we haven't yet got around to cars.

..last week.

I mean, that was the Home Affairs Minister, Tony Burke, and then this week Jim Chalmers comes out and says the fertility rate's going to 1.34, implying that we need immigration for the workforce.

He almost said, that's why immigration's so

important.

Chris saying, is there any information on who the ill-informed government people were who made the decision to target backpacker visas? Not sure, Chris.

Tony Burke is the Immigration Minister, so ultimately I suppose that decision rests in his hands.

And it's interesting that last week, Tony Burke, who was the Minister for Cybersecurity and Minister for the Arts, he's also Minister for Immigration, addressed the national...

he addressed the National Press Club in Canberra.

And he was announcing that Labor has now going to chop immigration.

The problem is too many bedrooms.

And now, more immigration.

And, you know, everything's fine.

But then you go, if you have a look, Tony Burke basically is blamed australians the housing crisis is the fall of aussies this is in the press crop last week he basically said he pointed to the decline the average number of people per household which dropped from 2.9 to 2.5 over three decades now you know i think he's mistaking this for something much more serious which is there are more solo households than there were previously um i take what you say about people buying together that's at the margins still But I'm afraid trying to blame Australians for the housing crisis is absolutely ridiculous.

And just to take that further, I'm fascinated by, on one hand, there is still chances for some people to get slightly better mortgages, so renewed mortgage wars, good news for borrowers, but also now the fixed borrowers are seeing much higher costs, NAB, Westpac, A&Z.

And now, of course, we've got CBA, who brought forward their cash forecast, joining majors Westpac and NAB, 0.25% in September.

And of course, One Nation continues to rise in the polls as more people say, I don't think either of the major parties are actually looking after her interests.

And it's interesting now we've had the migration stuff come out.

Of course, Tony Burke basically didn't move the numbers hardly at all.

And we've now got Labour with a slightly higher migration than the Conservatives and One Nation.

Now, as you know, last week, Home Affairs Minister Tony Burke unveiled the government's long-awaited immigration policy.

And despite making what I thought was a pretty outlandish claim that immigration is not really the cause of the housing crisis, instead blaming Australians, essentially, for choosing to live with fewer people per household.

That went down like a lead balloon.

I agree with what you said.

I'd like to quote something Tony Burke, the Federal Minister, said at a recent press club conference where he said...

The cause of the housing shortage in Australia is not caused by immigration.

It's shrinking household sizes is the cause of Australians choosing to live with fewer people per household and unused spare rooms.
