I don't always agree, but that's probably, uh, you know, to be expected.
Tom BallardHOST
6:46
You've got Tony Barry from the Liberal world involved, and you've had experience working on Zoe Daniels' campaign in Goldstein as well.
Tom BallardHOST
6:52
I mean, I don't know, does Redbridge have a specific progressive mission? Are you, are you broadly on the progressive side of politics? Is that where the company places itself, or is it more just about finding out more about people on, on all parts of the political spectrum for, for anyone who, who's interested?
Alex FeinGUEST

Meanwhile, in Canberra, everyone has eyes firmly on the southern state, especially for this latest real-time test of One Nation's support in the electorate.
Michelle GrattanHOST
1:01
In this podcast on the Victorian election, Tony Barry, from the Redbridge Political Consultancy and a former Liberal staffer, sets the scene.
Michelle GrattanHOST
1:12
We then speak to Premier Ben Carroll, Opposition leader Jess Wilson, and the Victorian One Nation deputy leader Colleen Harkin.
Michelle GrattanHOST
1:22
[pensive music] Tony Barry, can we begin with an overview of how the land lies in Victoria? Labor's on the nose, but the coalition needs some 16 seats for majority government.
Michelle GrattanHOST
1:40
That would be difficult at the best of times, but there's the complication of One Nation, which has been polling strongly, but we don't know how that will translate.
Michelle GrattanHOST
1:51
So what's your view of it?

15 MINS LATER

Michelle GrattanHOST
17:20
Yes, news of the potholes has even, uh, reached us here in Canberra.
Michelle GrattanHOST
17:24
We've had, uh, clips on television about all those potholes.
Nick DyrenfurthHOST
11:08
Coalition leads on economic management, national security, and tax.
Nick DyrenfurthHOST
11:12
Great line from your, um, uh, co-director there at Redbridge, Tony, Tony Barry, um, which you've been running through, uh, "The cash register never lies." Terrific line, but you have to wonder why now, when the focus should be on economic management, and the Coalition ostensibly, um, are reasserting the strength on economic management, um, uh, government spending, tax, cost of living, et cetera.
Nick DyrenfurthHOST
11:45
Why then have they chosen this moment to go big on immigration? I mean, I think the answer's obvious, but it seems, um, deeply counterintuitive.
Kos SamarasHOST
11:56
Let's be blunt.
Shane McInnesHOST
3:50
I want to hear from you, 133693.
Shane McInnesHOST
3:53
And before we get to Tony Barry, who is Director at Redbridge, and to your calls, what about this from Ben Carroll today? Playing underdog and embracing Wharfie time in a similar vein to the Brisbane Lions.
Shane McInnesHOST
4:06
It's warfie time.
Ben CarrollSOUNDBITE_SPEAKER
4:07
It's very clear that the Liberals and One Nation think they've got this election in the bag.
Matt GranlundCORRESPONDENT
4:50
I want to hear from you.
Shane McInnesHOST
4:51
1-double-3-6-9-3.
Shane McInnesHOST
4:53
Has One Nation lost some of its luster in Victoria? Are you thinking now that you will go for the devil you know in Labor or the Coalition two months today before the November state election? Joining me on the line now is Tony Barry, director at Redbridge.
Shane McInnesHOST
5:08
Tony, good afternoon.
Tony BarryGUEST
6:06
And Jess Wilson is putting more policies out there and a more values-based narrative that they're starting to sort of move towards that but I think we're still going to see the soft edge of the vote for a few more weeks yet because state politics people are quite disengaged relative to federal politics but as we get to the pointy end and we are starting to get to the pointy end as long as the coalition are effective in their messaging then I think we're going to see a big break in the voting perceptions towards the coalition I think.
Shane McInnesHOST
6:41
Tony Barry, Director at Redbridge, always appreciate your time.
Shane McInnesHOST
6:44
No doubt we will talk again in the lead-up to the election.
Shane McInnesHOST
6:46
133693, I want to hear from you.
Shane McInnesHOST
6:58
We're going with One Nation.
Shane McInnesHOST
6:59
Has that subsided now that we're just two months out from the state election? 133693, is Jess Wilson winning you over? showing that age and maybe some inexperience isn't necessarily a barrier to her being the Premier.
Shane McInnesHOST
7:15
And do you agree with Tony Barry that, Ben Carroll, if you're arrested on Labor voter, is he struggling? 1-double-3-6-9-3.
Shane McInnesHOST
7:22
I've said it before, I'll say it again.
