Butcher, sworn in as Tonawanda Police Chief, pledges community-focused leadership.

For Jamin Butcher, becoming Chief of City of Tonawanda Police Department is more than a career milestone.

It's an opportunity to continue serving the community where he grew up and has spent more than two decades protecting and helping its residents.

Butcher was sworn in as police chief Friday, October 16, after serving as the department's acting chief since January 3.

On October 2nd, Michael J. Solomon Jr., 43, of Tonawanda, was taken into custody and arraigned in Lancaster Town Court on account of attempted second-degree rape.

Investigators charged that Solomon attempted to engage in sexual intercourse with a person less than 15 years of age, after he went to a Maple Drive location to meet what he believed was a 14-year-old girl to have sex.

Solomon is being held without bail pending grand jury action.

On October 3rd, Joseph D. Boiler, 69, of Tonawanda, was arraigned in Clarencetown Court on two counts of attempted second-degree rape and one count of first-degree attempted dissemination of indecent material to minors.

Boiler is accused of attempting to engage in sexual contact with a person less than 15 years of age.

Specifically, he's charged with going to a location on Maple Drive in Lancaster after chatting online with a person he believed was a 14-year-old male to engage in sexual contact.

I think I'd even have to go around and check some of the five people.
