And he was another brilliant, still is, a brilliant radio icon.

But the plan is to talk about Mavericks, the Mavericks of football during that time.

I'm going to start off with a couple of kind of well-known, not international, but non-English Mavericks.

It was a comfortable conversation between two blokes.

You know, I wasn't being Tommy Boyd, not that that's anything, but he didn't have to be George Best.

And he played with the child and talked to the child.

And what I found out later is that somebody had got into the away side's dressing room and stolen some stuff.

But I think on a weekly basis, I Google it.

I Googled Tommy Boyd this week as well.

Hot Dogs and Hamburgers said Tommy Boyd was early 90s.

The Crown will appear in the GBE, but it's never seen on your TV.

While we're remembering Southern Sound, which opened 43 years ago tomorrow, Bank Holiday Monday, we mustn't forget the Tommy Boyd Show, which was broadcast at 10 o'clock on a Sunday night.

I was asked to be there to help Tommy with the studio equipment because he was working in TV in those days.

And before I knew it, I became his cohort or co-presenter.

And I suppose the rest is radio history, really.

Then when I left Southern Sound to go to the other side, Radio Sussex in 1987, my role as Tommy's co-presenter was taken over by Nikki Keg-Shevlin, and she also went on to co-present the weekday breakfast show for 18 years, and a lot of that time with Chris Copsey.

And of course, we revived the Tommy Boyd Show just a few years ago here on Regency Radio.
