Tom Watt

I bought a few books from Lord's Sports Shop in downtown Montreal and I've used them here and there over the years.

The Hockey Handbook by Lloyd Percival, The Road to Olympus by Anatoly Tarasov and later Tarasov's Hockey Technique, How to Play Hockey by Tom Watt, Coaching Hockey by John Maher, Power Skating by John Wild, and of course, Howie Meeker's Hockey Basics.

My real education in the game came mostly from three other sources.

One, my own coaching using a fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants approach.

Dan Maloney came in.

Now, I had a coach, when I first broke into the NHL, Tom Watt was the coach.

And he had just won the Jack Adams trophy.

And he was a university coach for a long time.

And Dale had such a good rookie year.

Then Winnipeg had such an improvement from the year before.

Tom Watt won the Jack Adams trophy.

But from a physical perspective, if Tom Watt told me to do something on the ice, I'd say, well, this guy's never done anything like that in his life.
