All sorts of issues we've got looking after elderly Australians who paid their taxes all their life, and all they want is a nice, comfortable life in retirement, and they can't get it.

[upbeat music] Indeed, seventeen, uh, died every day, six thousand four hundred in total.

[whimsical music] Well, the coalition's migration policy has left several sectors warning it would leave them understaffed.

Ageing Australia's CEO, Tom Symondson, told Radio National Breakfast yesterday that migrant workers play a crucial role, uh, filling gaps in the aged care industry.

So I meet people who are studying an accounting degree, but they're working as a, a personal care worker in aged care whilst they, um, get that accounting degree.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with that, nothing illegal about that.

There were a whole heap of shifts, particularly in regional areas, that couldn't be filled, and that's a relatively small decision.

It had a very big impact, and it shows you just how quickly changes in immigration policy can negatively impact sectors like ours.
