And I'm Tristan Redman in London, and today on The Global Story, what have Donald Trump's ambassadors been getting up to, and what can their conduct tell us about the new way that America does diplomacy? Today on the show, we're joined by Humeyra Pamuk, senior White House correspondent for Reuters, who's also covered foreign policy in Washington for the last seven years.

It's been reported that she had also accepted private jet travel, hospitality at some of Europe's most expensive hotels from a Greek shipping magnate, and there seems to be this constant promise by her to various people that I am going to make you rich, that somehow if you help me, I am going to use my power in your benefit, which is not usual conduct of a US ambassador at all.

We should note that, uh, Kimberly Guilfoyle's lawyers have disputed the authenticity of those messages.

They issued a statement, uh, saying that this congressional candidate owed Kimberly Guilfoyle some $150,000 for speeches and prior consulting work that she did for him long before her ambassadorship.

It happened last year, though, Humeyra, and it's only just coming out now with this Wall Street Journal reporting.

In Belgium, the ambassador, Bill White, uh, has been summoned a number of times over accusing Belgian officials of antisemitism and mocking a minister with an AI-generated image.

Poland, the ambassador, Tom Rose, announced he was cutting off contact with the speaker of Polish parliament because the speaker said Trump didn't deserve the Nobel Peace Prize.

Uh, Chile, Canada, I could go on.

There really are a lot of examples, and I think there's a few reasons for this.
