Tom Papa

By the way, shout out to...

The great Tom Papa.

My mom, this is a text from my mom.

My mom's out in Palm Springs.

I just love that the soundboard, it's like having somebody here with dementia and Alzheimer's.

So you guys are having a conversation.

So my mom went and saw Tom Papa.

Tom Papa! Papa's got a brand new bed! Hey, Daddy! Like,

It's a play.

You've got Tom Hanks, Julia Roberts, Philip Seymour Hoffman sitting next to Aaron Sorkin.

Philip's got like a cigarette in his mouth.

He's just going, he's crushing it.

You feel good,

right? Yeah, I feel good.

All right, Tommy's going to make a call.

Yeah, I'll make a couple calls.

We have to do the Gebhardt vote.

Papa, can we send the clip to double threat? Not before we vote.

Julie and Tom will be all so funny talking about

it.

And then the father orchestrates a debate between sister and brother.

Make your points, children.

Papa, do you think if we send in a clip it will remain on the clip list for two and a half years like Dr.

Seinfeld was like, the tickets, where are the tickets? We got to get the ride.

Me going into this film, I had no idea because as the 80s, the 90s, and the other years progressed, I knew Martin Moe by name, I certainly knew him by face, but I regarded him, and I'm sure millions of other people regarded him as well, not as an A-list comedian, which he certainly was not, but as a comedian's comedian.

He was one of those performers like Albert Brooks or Tom Papa who who may not have been on the radar of most people who were familiar with new movies or new TV shows that had been released.

He was usually relegated to supporting roles, but the people who were starring in films like Steve Martin and others... had one of their favorite comedians be Martin Mull.

And this movie shows that there is very good reason for that.
