Tom McLoughlin

He's established.

Tom McLaughlin of Part 6 was going to do something a little bit supernatural with him.

I'm glad that that got cut.

I mean...

So I had Albert on my side and Charlie on my side and was left alone for the most part.

We talked to Tom McLaughlin recently who directed Friday the 13th Part 6, and he had commented that working in horror at the time was kind of akin to working in porn as far as like respectability level.

I'm wondering if that was your feeling too in that era.

Yeah.

Okay.

Tommy McLaughlin and I have become friends over the years.

I've always been a fan of it.

Not because of Tommy, but now I'm a super fan of it.

Right.

Well, yeah, Tom McLoughlin is just a better director, and so he realized, "Oh, okay, well, I'm not interested in just making a geek show.

And if I'm not gonna do that, then I need to figure out other ways to make this movie interesting.

So I'll have sympathetic characters or clever dialogue or a sense of humor." Whereas-

[laughs]

And, uh, and then they had that cut up.

So, uh, Tom McLoughlin knew how to compensate for those things.

Absolutely.

People really love seeing it in 3D.

Yeah, we actually had Tom McLaughlin on the show who done part six, and we aired his interview on Friday the 13th.

And that was kind of, I think that was my first Friday the 13th, excuse me, that I had ever seen as a kid.

And of course, after seeing that one, you know, then I went back and fast-tracked my way through the rest of them.

That ended up having two other stories from Night Shift, The Ledge and Quitters Inc.

This one, obviously, this one was obviously fleshed out into a full length feature made for TV movie directed by Tom McLaughlin.

Stars Tim Matheson and Brooke Adams.

One thing that really got me right away in this adaptation is how good it looks.

Then we also have the 40th anniversary of Friday the 13th Part 6.

Big shout-outs and thank you to the director of that film, Tom McLaughlin, for being there.

Also, Tommy Jarvis from that movie.

Tom Matthews was there and was amazing.

I will say this.

did it and like when hiring danny steinman frank mancuso drew two horror films that he had seen that he liked and he came across a movie called one dark half by the great tom mclaughlin and the one thing i will say about tom mclaughlin

Jason Lim's might not be my favorite Jason, Jason film, 513 film, but I think it might

be one of the most or second most impactful in the series because it started to become a horror film that was very aware of itself and its meta qualities and a lot of horror films like kevin williamson a lot of film i mean horror writers were inspired by this style and With Tom McLaughlin, what I like about Jason Lives is it's very tongue-in-cheek.

It's very aware of itself.

The intro is paying homage to Frankenstein, James Bond.

It is a film made for people who not just love horror, but love cinema.

There is even Frank Capra elements to it.
