Tom Briscoe

After they stunned Leeds, inflicting a third consecutive defeat on Brad Arthur's Rhinos, who after being taken to task by Wigan the previous week, really struggled to muster a high level of execution in this one against a side who had nothing to play for but a lot of pride on the table.

And the visitors were first on the score sheet after the retiring Tom Briscoe expertly teed up Logan Moy before Chris Hankins had barged over to respond for the hosts for a 6-6 halftime score.

Hull then went ahead after the break after a terrible kickoff didn't go far enough and Lloyd Kemp snatched it then crossed through contact and then with under 10 minutes to go Clark bagged the winner with a brilliant bit of ingenuity after the Leeds goal line defence froze though Callum Watkins did snatch a second for them with just minutes to go.

It's hard to get around, we talked about the narrative around Wigan earlier, around the narrative now that's starting to shape around Leeds here, that they just seem to be coming unstuck at the absolute worst time of the year.

And I think the last thing on this, I mean, for FC, I mean, it's a great win to end a miserable year for them.

It's not been as awful as 2024, has it? you know, there's not been a lot to look back on fondly, but what a way to end it.

And I thought defensively, this was their best performance of the season, which is mad that it's in the last game that they were able to really rally to the ball and, and for straight leads as much as they did in a great way, I think to kind of for Tom Briscoe to bow out, but You know, they've obviously got a big year coming up, but that's one thing about these last games of the season for the teams not in the playoffs.

You want to end on a high and Hull FC absolutely did, didn't they? Definitely

Rovers were also guilty of a sma- smattering of angling er- handling errors, and it was little surprise that, uh, Hull FC got the next score.

It came when the ball went to ground in midfield and Tom Briscoe scooped it up and raced in at the corner.

Well, that was it as far as Hull were concerned, and there was very, very little scoring action until five minutes from the end.

Um, Dobson had, uh, dr- had kicked a penalty, but, um, there were no more tries scored until five minutes from the end, as I say, when, uh, Do- um, Peter F- Welland kicked forward and man- Pe- sorry, Chris Welland kicked forward and managed to touch down in goal.

I really do.

It's Tom Briscoe's last game as well.

Oh, yeah.

that don't necessarily manifest in a result.

The other big thing, I think that's nice for me, without taking the focus away from Leeds, is Tommy Briscoe.

Obviously, an old player.

Dr. Tom.

Hopefully that's going to be a very special night to come for that one.

I was pleased that he got a try.

As a Rovers fan, I should hate Tom Briscoe for what he did for Rano's, what he's played for FC against, but the reality is I've never hated the guy.

I don't hate many players, to be fair.

He's too nice of a man.

He's a nice bloke, but what I also think a lot of people can learn from Tom Briscoe is about longevity of career and how you adapt as you age.

And some of these players that play the wing position or play in the backs that lose a touch of pace...

Bar and large, he has not done, by and large, he has not actually done a bad job for you in his latest stint as he started to lose the physical ability and he started to lose his pace.

Anyway, let's go to Hull FC.

Hull FC, again, they're announcing Briscoe, of course, who's exceptional.

Unlucky not to be in team of the week as well.

I'll say Tom Briscoe.

We know quite a few of these players that are going to be moving on next year.

The big one, though, there is, of course, Jake Affer, who you're being linked with.

Hull FC were unlucky not to beat the Wolves, I think, and scored 14 points to weigh us 16.

This game was Dr. Tom Briscoe's last run out of the MKM.

wrapping up an absolutely glittering career following his announcement that he is to retire at the end of the season.

And he bowed out with a stellar performance and a try, showing exactly why he's been such an important part of the Hull FC squad.

You know, what a servant he's been to Super League and the game in general as well over the years.

We've seen the best and worst of Tom Briscoe over the years.

And I know Lauren's focusing very much on the best of Tom Briscoe.

And I know she'll be absolutely gutted that she's not seeing him run out with his floppy hair next season.
