Tom Allen

So he is a really good player.

Uh, the issue that happened last year at Clemson was they got a new defensive coordinator, and it's Tom Allen, who's a little old-fashioned.

Mm-hmm.

He alienated a lot of the top guys in the locker room at that time.

You know, probably pre Cignetti.

Defensive coordinator with Tom Allen was really bad.

I thought Tom Allen was his own defensive coordinator.

He's a defensive coach.

Because there wasn't a previous regime, right? When Florida got rid of Billy Napier, there weren't a bunch of Billy Napier holdovers.

When Indiana cleaned house of Tom Allen, did they keep a bunch of Tom Allen players around? No.

Kurt Signetti was very selective with what players were coming over from James Madison, and then targeting specific players out of the portal and had more time to do so a- as we've talked about.

Whereas it's re- it, it's literally the Iowa State guys and the Penn State guys.

Um, one more note-- well, a couple more notes on the Clemson matchup, just because we t- we went into the preview podcast wondering how Clemson was gonna match up against Miami.

What were they gonna, what they're, what was Clemson gonna do on defense? Tom Allen runs as much man coverage as basically anyone else in the country.

The advanced analytics support that.

And what they did against Miami is they actually played more man coverage than th- one, than they've played all season, and they played more man coverage on Saturday than all but one team in the entire country.

How, how does the Big Ten stylistically... 'Cause I remember when Urban got to Ohio State, it was, okay, bring a lot of Florida kids, bring a lot of Texas kids, recruit with that national brand.

And then before Kurt Signetti, Tom Allen.

Tom Allen was getting a lot of kids from Florida who didn't go to Florida State-
