So basically, Kim Jong-nam, he's Kim Jong-il's son, so he's older than Kim Jong-un, the current dictator of North Korea, and he's supposed to kind of be the leader later on, like he's supposed to be running the place right now, But years and years and years ago, because he's a little bit of a strange duck, he gets caught traveling on a fake passport and he goes to Japan, the arch nemesis of North Korea, like the big bad guy besides the United States.
Jordan HarbingerHOST
75:47
And it's because he's trying to go to Tokyo Disneyland.
Jordan HarbingerHOST
75:51
And so it's so embarrassing for the whole country that he basically gets put into a trust fund and they're like, move to Malaysia, you effing weirdo, or Macau or wherever, right? And they're like, don't ever show your face here again.
Jordan HarbingerHOST
76:01
And he's like, fine.
Amy AnnettePANELIST
25:00
Yeah.
Pierre NovelliePANELIST
25:01
We know they get bored because they got a bunch of fake passports made up, some of the ruling family, and snuck off to Disneyland Japan.
Pierre NovelliePANELIST
25:09
So they've definitely, they know that things can be nicer than they are.
Pierre NovelliePANELIST
25:13
They just don't care.
Pierre NovelliePANELIST
25:14
They've seen Disneyland.
Andy ZaltzmanHOST
25:17
Right, let's spin the globe once more.
Andy ZaltzmanHOST
25:19
Ahir and Ayesha.
David DollarHOST
6:03
Just go down to the local post office and, you know, for whatever country you're in, throw some stamps on it and be like, there you go.
April KraftGUEST
6:07
At Tokyo Disney, they do have a whole section where you can buy a big cardboard box.
April KraftGUEST
6:14
Oh, wow.
April KraftGUEST
6:14
And then mail there.
April KraftGUEST
6:16
I didn't inquire because at that point when I found it, we were already shoved in the suitcase everything um but that that would have been great yeah I would have gone right down to the store and put everything in there that I wanted here you go
David DollarHOST
6:34
well just for reference according to the googles um Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea do not offer direct shipping to the United States they provide domestic shipping within Japan um to ship merchandise and souvenirs back to the U S you must take your items to a local Japan post office.
David DollarHOST
6:49
So this may contradict what you saw April.
David DollarHOST
6:52
So you may actually seen it in person or whatever, but they have prices of things they'll ship around the country.
Mike CarlsonHOST
20:51
That could happen.
Jason SheridanHOST
20:53
Well, in the fall of 2021, Tokyo Disneyland... did not do the Halloween overlays.
Jason SheridanHOST
21:02
They reopened before California at the Disney parks.
Jason SheridanHOST
21:09
But they said, specifically at the time, we're not doing this.
Keltie KnightGUEST
15:11
And I was from one of those studios and the girls that were in Canada and the girls that were sort of succeeding and going off.
Keltie KnightGUEST
15:17
I was nothing like like the girls that were getting out of our studio and then going working in Tokyo Disneyland or going to Toronto and working.
Keltie KnightGUEST
15:25
They were spectacular.
Keltie KnightGUEST
15:26
And they were winning all the high platinums like they were really fantastic.
Kim McCallisterHOST
29:11
Although people are talking about affordability, somehow a lot of people are still able to head to theme parks.
Kim McCallisterHOST
29:20
And the numbers are out about exactly how many people visited Disneyland and Universal Studios and Dollywood.
Kim McCallisterHOST
29:32
The attendance at Disneyland rose a little bit in 2025.
Kim McCallisterHOST
29:37
Several other California theme park attendance declined.
Kim McCallisterHOST
29:42
The annual attendance report released by the Themed Entertainment Association is out.
Kim McCallisterHOST
30:17
17.8 million guests in 2025.
Kim McCallisterHOST
30:21
That's down 0.2%.
Kim McCallisterHOST
30:23
Disneyland Park in Anaheim is second worldwide with attendance increasing 0.4% to 17.4 million visitors.
KirkHOST
20:08
We talked about things that I recognize there, to selling popcorn at Disney, to becoming an Imagineer.
KirkHOST
20:14
And his first job was being a coordinator of Post-its, basically, for Tokyo Disneyland.
Christian RainwaterHOST
20:20
Yeah, he was a big part of Tokyo Disneyland, right? Or like of DisneySea, sorry.
KirkHOST
20:25
Yeah, so I'm getting to that part of the book.
KirkHOST
20:26
But he went to Tokyo Disneyland, helped them build it.
KirkHOST
20:30
Great stories about, he had a friend, Sato-san, I think.
KirkHOST
20:35
And Sato-san was like,
KirkHOST
21:15
So they created this own problem.
Matt DabrowskiHOST
23:58
ship.
Matt RogersHOST
24:02
it is not technically the last of the Wish class because Oriental Land Company, who owns Tokyo Disneyland, will be building their own ship, which has also been announced as the Disney Imagination, which will be launching in the spring of 2029.
Matt RogersHOST
24:16
They
Matt DabrowskiHOST
24:18
get figment.
Matt RogersHOST
28:58
That would be number one for me.
Matt RogersHOST
29:00
Because, I mean, unless that's what the Japanese like.
Matt RogersHOST
29:04
Maybe they like... high-end merchant i don't know i don't know we'll see but i'm interested to see what is going to happen with the imagination i firmly believe too they're going to do vacation packages could you imagine oriental land company is selling a three-day package that gets you um tokyo disneyland and then they'll shuttle you over for four nights on the new ship So that's why I'm very excited for what the potential is with the imagination there.
Matt RogersHOST
29:39
Another quick thing I want to talk about with Disney Cruise Line that they announced.
Eric MortonHOST
32:11
Having experienced both the 25th and lackluster 50th WDW anniversaries, I wanted to get your thoughts on what they might do for the 60th.
Eric MortonHOST
32:19
Do you think we will see major celebration like the 25th or another disappointing effort like the 50th and other recent milestones? It seems like Disneyland receives all the pomp and circumstance for the big occasions, while WDW gets little more than a specialty cupcake and a t-shirt.
Eric MortonHOST
32:33
Love to hear your perspective on this.
Eric MortonHOST
32:34
Thanks, James.
Tom CorlessHOST
32:36
Well, I want to set the record straight.
Tom CorlessHOST
32:37
Disneyland's 50th, amazing.
Tom CorlessHOST
32:42
Disneyland's 60th, amazing.
Tom CorlessHOST
32:45
Disneyland's 70th, pretty rough.
Melissa SmithHOST
2:27
But walking, we did so, so much walking.
Melissa SmithHOST
2:31
The highlights, we did Disneyland with the kids, which I think we were there for probably about 12 13 hours it was a really long day and it was actually the first day I think we'd been in Japan maybe four days by the time we went to Disneyland and it was the first day that it didn't rain so that was incredible to see the blue sky and the sun and we enjoyed that um Another of the highlight was taking the kids to Universal Studios and that was in Osaka and that was incredible.
Melissa SmithHOST
3:01
And because it's Halloween season and the Japanese very much love their Halloween, at night there were just random zombies running around the park everywhere and the girls were scared shitless.
Melissa SmithHOST
3:14
It was the funniest thing and, like, you had all the locals just squealing and things like that and the rides were incredible.
